Units sales that were not tracked by Famitsu in 2020 (using official figures - Famitsu retail estimates)

As of June:
Xenoblade ~125k

As of September:
Paper Mario ~140k | SM3DAS ~290k | Splatoon ~300k | MK8 ~300k | Clubhouse ~400k | Animal Crossing ~2.4m

As of December:
Momotaro ~500k

It's probably safe to assume that everything in the above top 30 exceeded 100k digital sales in 2020.

Yes, this is very very surprising result also for Japanese charts watchers.

It certainly seems like Japanese are more avid for good board games (or compilations like CG)

The top spot is not surprising at all. However, I don't think I could have guessed this order for most of the other games. As it has already been stated, Clubhouse Games at #2 is a surprise. I probably would have guessed Mario Kart 8 or 3D All-Stars, but those ended up at 5 and 8 respectively. Very interesting to see what is popular on the digital side.

What surprises me is that 'Layton's Mystery Journey' made the list. Not only is it a port of a 3DS game, but it's probably the weakest game in the series in terms of puzzle quality and plot.

Another surprise is NBA 2K20. I mean, I would've bet more on FIFA. Maybe it got heavily discounted throughout the year.

Prolly on sale as usual.
