Week 24 is in the books!
The PS5 is knocking on the door to 5 million for the year and will do it on Week 25. For comparison's sake, the PS4 didn't past 5 million in its first year until Week 27. The PS5 extends its lead over the PS4 to a little over 454k. Meanwhile, the PS4's deficit to the PS3 continues to drop as it is now over the 3 quarter mark at a little over 757k.
The Xbox Series saw a noticeable bump in in sales. To the point where this week is its biggest week of the year at just under 140k. And it's enough to to where it stretches its lead over the Xbox One's first year to a little over 897k, just shy of 900k. This was also the same week in 2014 where the Xbox One finally ditched the Kinect 2.0 and dropped its price down to $399. Something that ultimately was too little too late to reverse the Xbox One's fortunes and hopes of catching up with the PS4 and making the generation competitive. Speaking of the Xbox One, it continues its free fall as it dips below 13k this week and its deficit to the 360 is now over 651k.
And in the main event, the Nintendo Switch builds another slim win over last year, slightly boosting its lead to just over 127k. Despite a deficit of over 300k in Europe, it's tracking ahead in the other 3 regions enough to the point where it is ahead overall. Next week should have a small bump due to the release of Mario Golf: Super Rush, but very small. Especially since the latest Famitsu report had Switch sales down from the prior week in spite of Mario Golf's release.
