Interesting the issue would come up now. I can only assume that Steam is a lot more cludded and thus things are harder to notice to get angry about.

Steam gamers are mostly just gamers without any side interest. In console space you have people that think it is hip and cool to own a console and then are *shocked* that games on the device actually express artistic ideas of the devs.

Steam has its own share of crazy nuts who react to stuff on it: I've seen my Jim Sterling.

Of course someone needs to go say something to create that sort of reaction so...

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Something smells fishy about this story ... I don't know, seems pretty attention-seeky even if they did verify they got some complaints.

Never listen to what Era has to say, because it's frankly not worth a damn and certainly not worth devs bowing down to at the least.

People who bitch and moan about games like these don't seem to realise that it's not a game made for them.

Come to think of it, I was supposed to buy this last year, but now that it's been brought up again, I may as well add it to the wishlist to buy sometime down the line.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Demand for censorship of an already tame game. What will the world come up with next?

Damn dem ladies got strong backs. Also not surprised resetera was outraged

Oh yeah, I've seen those tits in the eshop. Very lovely!

OP: The developers should stick with it and don't give in. Not just for the nice tits, but also for creative freedom. If people don't like it then they just shouldn't buy it. Easy as that.

Typical right wing shitmob trying to bully someone into submission. The message are filled with racists/nationalistic remarks and stereotypes about asian and japanese people. Some messages refer to the "tranny devs who threaten women". And a lot of messages claim that game tries to peddle porn to kids (the game is rated mature by the way). Concern about the purity of children somehow tainted by media is typical right-wing shit. So another instance right wing cancel culture, like "Heavy Metal is satanic" or "D&D makes our kids murderers" or bullshit like that.

Actually, having read all of the screenshotted comments they posted, I'd say it's a mix of left and right wing criticism they are receiving. Some of the messages seem to be from right wing folks, mainly the ones that seem to be from parents worried that their kids will see the game on the eshop, and those calling the game demonic.

However, some also seem to be from left wing folks. Unlike in the past, most attacks against Japanese games/anime/manga for their sexualized character designs tend to be from left wingers these days, who believe that sexualized female character designs are setting back the causes of feminism and social justice in general, so basically most of the comments criticizing the game for misogyny or the large breasted main character are probably from left wingers. Some of the messages seem to be from a subset of left wing feminists known as TERFs, or Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists, people who believe that womens rights are being superseded by trans rights, for instance trans women being allowed to compete in sports against biological women; these TERF's seem to think the main character is trans (not sure if that is true or not as I haven't played the game). One comment, which was posted on Nintendo's Youtube trailer for the game I believe, straight up says "kill yourselves for giving these right wing fags a platform", in other words the poster is a left winger criticizing the devs, who he believes to be right wingers, and telling Nintendo they should kill themselves for giving the devs a platform to release their game on.

So yeah, basically devs are getting flak from the more radical parts of both sides of the political spectrum, far right and far left.

And this is what is happening with everything, the outcries to ban everything come now not only from conservative and regresive people, now they come from all sectors if they think their movements can benefit by attacking others on social media. Just look at what happened to pronhub last weeks both conservative, religious, right-wing aligned and "intelectuals",progressive, social justice advocates, left-aligned people were celebrating for one reason or another.

In anime, manga and videogames it's as you say before we had to put up with the religious nutjobs and the ultra conservatives that kept saying that pikachu and yu-gi-oh were satanic, that the knights of zodiac and ranma 1/2 would turn you gay or whatnot, that the characters, their outfits and transformations from magic knight rayearth and sailor moon will turn your girls intro strippers.

For videogames it was cases like incidents where a kid used a weapon to commit a crime: it wasn't because  they got access to weapons, or because they had family problems, or because they had a medical condition that needed treatmen, it was because videogemes, because according to them videogames disconnect you from reality, because videogames make you violent, agressive and crazy, so videogames were satanic and we needen to prohibit them.

Now the people that are supposedly more rational, advocate for freedom and the betterment of society, want the very same things as the old prudish ones, because according to them everything in anime, manga and videogames is offensive whether it is racist, mysoginistic, homophobic, transphobic, or encourages or promotes harmful attitudes towards certain people, then you create women that keep on ranting how Mario and Link saving princesses is condescending or patronizing, and how if that continues girls will keep on being subservient and obedient, now everygame with characters like the ones from cyberpunk are "trans appropriation". Hopefully they will find other areas to keep their delusions at bay and leave the videogame industry alone.

Is it just those groups of people who wants something censored or is there anything official from a publisher, platform holder or another country going on here? Because if not, then why tf should they change anything?

And after all of that they go right back ranting about "cancel culture"...

I swear, some people just want to complain for complain's sake. "This game has violence and I don't approve, let's threaten the devs with violence over it", "I want representation in games, so let's bitch about all representation I didn't want or ask for"... Best of luck to the developers, I hope they hold their ground and don't cave in against the mob.

Also, Resetera making a blind eye to this is not surprising, they are notoriously censorious and will ban people for the slightest thing if you don't align with them.

This, basically.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I find the art exaggerated and probably wouldn't buy it. But that is their right as creators to make it.
People asking for censorship are in the wrong. At most a game should have a disclosure of the content and classification.
Kudos for the publisher.
