Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Refund?

[ Edited ]

Good Morning,

Obviously, Cyberpunk 2077 had a ton of anticipation coming into its release, and while I’ve not played it myself, it would appear that perhaps for some, it hasn’t lived up completely to that anticipation.  While many are enjoying the game, and it appears that there is a patch coming on 12/21/2020 that should hopefully help improve the game even further, we can certainly understand why some might be wanting to return the game, even after it is opened and played.

Normally, Best Buy is unable to offer returns of opened game software per our Return & Exchange Promise here.  However, after some deliberation, and seeing that the vendor will be allowing returns through 12/21/2020, Best Buy will also be allowing returns for select opened Cyberpunk 2077 SKU’s through December 21, 2020.  Beyond that date, we will return to our normal Return & Exchange Promise for the game.  Here are the game SKU’s that will be returnable:

6255151 - Cyberpunk 2077 PS4

6255136 - Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One

6352276 - Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition PS4

6352440 - Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition Xbox One

6414180 - Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One Digital

You can bring your game to your local Best Buy store, or if you had your purchase shipped to your home, can return it via mail.  If you need assistance obtaining a return label, please contact us at (888) 237-8289.  Please also keep in mind that if you received the steelbook offer with the game, that will need to be returned as well, or the value of the steelbook will be deducted from your refund.

Thanks for being Best Buy customers!

Seems you can also on Xbox:

Cyberpunk 2077: To ensure that every player can get the experience they expect on Xbox, we will be expanding our existing refund policy to offer full refunds to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally from the Microsoft Store, until further notice.

I still think they are overvalued, if they lost 1B in value just over weekend and released only a few games plus have an online store they are very much overvalued imho.

Good to know. But you saw that is an expansion of their regular refund policy. Perhaps because of the marketing deal MS thought it would be better to not remove from the store, but will they give refund to people that buy after this event? So person can right now go there buy, finish the game and refund?

Maybe not when they bought it exactly now but seems all can ask a refund and xbox support stated that a vast majority already got a refund when asked, they are just expanding it to make it easier to get a refund for Cyberpunk.

It must suck though if you don't mind the bugs and want to buy the game and can't because you have the only digital console. Anyway I wished MS/Sony colloborated more on those kind of issues but then again we have so many bug infested games.

Of course everything is immediately a fanboy war due to the presence of sales2099, in a thread that needs no such angle. The Kerotan of Xbox. And even Kero would blush like a schoolgirl at this guy's persistence in injecting a fanboy narrative into any given thread. Forum cancer.

Damn, 35 hours, that it?

Jesus, can you stop for one second to think of anything else? You're more obsessed with this game than anyone playing it, dude.

I'm 33 hours in and probably not even halfway through the main story. It depends on what kind of content you focus on playing. You know, like, in any open world game.

Jeez, chill out. Misread it, thought it was completed in around 35 hours.

Sounds reasonable. Alpha testing is a paid job, after all.

It'll come back....but I can't see it ever be a full priced game again. I reckon instead of £49.99 it'll be £29.99.

Sooooo technically Cyberpunk is a digital Xbox console exclusive :)

With any luck the plummeting stock prices gonna make CD look mighty tasty to Phil Spencer haha

It is funny seeming Xbox fans around several medias after complaining of Sony refund policy being bad now celebrating that you can only digitally buy this mess on Xbox.

I guess you have to take all the wins you can right @sales2099 since the multiplats on PS5 have been working better than on Series X most of time right?

THREAD WARNING

In a topic that really had nothing to do with XBox, and definitely nothing to do with hardware performance of XBox SX vs PS5, suddenly that's what's being discussed. This is a pattern with certain users, namely the ones being quoted, and is against the rules as it is trolling and derailing.

To those who are stepping in to call out certain users for these behaviors, please don't. In general, most of these kinds of posts only make the situation worse, which is why there are also rules against this. Report the posts, as several users did, and the mod team will respond as soon as possible. I recognize this isn't always as soon as people would like (we're not on call 24/7), but it's the best way to handle it.

As a reminder, this topic is about returns and refunds for Cyberpunk 2077, specifically on the Playstation Store. Naturally, if you want to talk about something related (i.e. Bestbuy's return policy on the game) or return policies from other companies in similar situations, that's a-ok. I trust that you guys can exercise judgment and figure out what is off topic, but as a hint, if it's about whether Microsoft or Sony (or which of their consoles) is the bestest, it's almost certainly off topic.

Further off topic posts are probably going to lead to bans. That includes responses to this post. Any questions about what I've said should be done through PMs to me or CGI. So let's get back on track.

I worked at Best Buy... A manager could always at their discretion return an opened game, but it was pretty rare that it would actually happen. First time to my knowledge that it could be done for an entire SKU.

I once had someone try to return a copy of GTAV because it was in spanish... They didn't have a receipt and the SKU for that version wasn't in our system. Obviously they'd bought the game from some small mom and pop shop that broke street date and were trying to return it to us XD.

It's funny because trying to play Cyberpunk on a PS4 is pretty much the same as trying to play GTA V on a PS3.

We actually did have a big issue with returns on GTA V for the PS3. When it launched, that was around the time the 12GB PS3 was released (or whatever size it was) which was too small for the mandatory install. So, a lot of people literally couldn't play it. I don't recall if people tried to return it or what we said. We just tried to make sure when they bough it they knew they'd need a flash drive, and those who bought it without knowing mostly just bought a flash drive. Which was great for us because we made about as much profit selling a 9.99 flash drive as we did on the game. XD.

But, if a customer had actually bought it in the store from one of the gaming associates (the receipts identify the associate who sold it IIRC), and they didn't tell them about the harddrive situation, my intuition tells me our manager would have allowed the refund, and been very pissed with the associate who sold it. I'm pretty sure we wound up returning a few copies that were preordered and picked up, since those didn't go through the gaming department.

Really? I had no issues with it, and although have become less discriminating over the years, I know that both the PS3 and XB360 versions were well received on their technical merits. Even lauded. Furthermore, why the shout-out to PS3 specifically when both versions were considered more or less equal? Please state the reasoning behind your post.
