Were you expecting a big advantage for the XSX?

Yes 20 32.79%

No 41 67.21%

Total:61

This doesnt surprise me. I bet its going to end up being a situation where its "easier" to extract the juice from the PS5 topped with how revolutionary the storage/memory systems are. It could be the case that the new storage/memory systems are going to have a bigger affect in the real world than consumers not in the know would have thought. I believe the is a reason so many developers were getting so giddy of the PS5 dev kits. Xbox needs a patch though. That console is far too powerful to be having issues like this. Bad form on the developer. The problem is though when you are making so many versions of the same game even though you do cross build them, you cant get them all out on time in perfect condition. Well it will make it more difficult. I think the devs allocate resources to get the game complete on the platforms they believe it will sell best on.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

That is my fear on some devs if they put to many options like res, rt, fps, etc for you to chose in the menu. It is quite possible that you won't get the best optimization for every scenario.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Does anyone know which resolution it has on PS5, now? I know it's upscaled and not native 4k but not sure what the baseline is. Maybe they could reduce the resolution a bit on Series X to have it still above the PS5 and running the same, then.

Not surprising. It was speculated that the advantages of the ps5 would be more noticeable to the naked eye so it would look better despit the paper spec. Im sure digital foundry will put this under the microscope later and show us what we are missing, but we should not need digital foundry to do so.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Good thing GameStop canceled my SX preorder.

DonFerrari: I believe that is why even with the immense power of PCs, games still dont look as good as the should. Too much over head and shoddy optimizations. This trend seems to be applying to consoles more and more unfortunately and with the different spec of consoles all out at the moment I dont really see it getting any better. Hence I tend to favour exclusives.

I don't think we will really know before DF tell us. But yes, If PS5 is like 10-15% sub 4k reconstructed and Series X is native 4k then having similar reconstruct on Series would help, but I do think both are native 4k (it is near 4k on current gen if I'm not wrong).

Thats just Assasins Creed Valhalla.

Heres a few others:

Devil May Cry 5:

  • PlayStation 5: 4.01 seconds
  • Xbox Series X: 5.59 seconds
  • Xbox Series S: 6.95 seconds

From console OS, until loaded into the game:

PlayStation 5: 19.52 seconds
Xbox Series X: 41.98 seconds

NBA2K21:
From hitting "Play now" (until into the game, from the menu):

  • PlayStation 5: 6.92 seconds
  • Xbox Series X: 5.19 seconds

From OS into game:

  • PlayStation 5: 14.43 seconds
  • Xbox Series X: 22.81 seconds

source : https://kotaku.com/ps5-and-xbox-series-x-loading-times-compared-they-re-1845638380

Loading times are short on either console.
Usually it ll favor the PS5, if its a newer game, that takes advantage of the compression techniques and the SSD.
Backwards compatability games seems to favor the XSX, even though theres supposedly a firmware fix for it on PS5 side.

Ubisoft producer confirmed yesterday that the Series X is not native 4K but is Dynamic 4K after all. GameReactor also said the same thing.

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/features/interviews/assassins-creed-valhalla/

"I have a Series X behind my desk and the first time I booted the game on it I was super-impressed by the smoothness that 60fps brings to the most action-packed moments or just exploring the world. There will be shorter loading times and a good frame rate that make the game a lot more comfortable to play, as well as stuff like better draw distance, dynamic 4K and so on."

https://www.gamereactor.eu/amp/assassins-creed-valhalla-review/

"On the Xbox Series X, Valhalla runs with a 4K resolution (it seems dynamic, as at times there was some notorious reduction in definition) and at 60 frames per second"
