So does that mean we can stop worrying about the Series S for now?

Even if every title from SIE are cross gen for the next couple of years, the Series S will be here for the whole generation.

Okay, so for the next 3 years all third party titles will be held back by the PS4, and for the rest of the time by the Series S. Damn.. this is going to be a really held back generation.

Why would third parties be held back by the PS4 if the Xbox One is available?

lol That's fair, but I was actually being sarcastic. I find that whole "gen-holding-back-hardware" idea risible at best. Games engines are highly scalable nowadays. Pretty much every PC game out there running at its lowest settings looks like a 7th gen game, sometimes even worse.

Why bother giving common sense? Let them have their fight of who will hold back who

So no need to buy I PS5 then

It will all depends of what titles do you want to play. Because well 2-3 years transition have always been the norm, most third parties will be launched over 2 years after next-gen on the previous one, and for sport games and other yearly it takes even longer to stop launching.

From PS exclusives themselves seems like at least half of the titles will be PS5 exclusives.

Ratchet and Clanks purchase for me is confirmed

Horizon 2 Miles Sackboy this three will be the PS4 version because they're cheaper for me

And God of War and GT7 are still shrouded in mystery if they're cross gen if yes PS4 versions for me as well

Upgrade path is for me important to get the games cheaper

For Demons Souls I have to think if it's my taste or not never played a Souls game heck I bought Bloodborne but it's still sealed

Makes sense.

I'll buy PS5 as soon as I can because I'm excited to see the improvements. But yep for the first year and considering crossgen you'll only miss like 3 titles or so. But even the games you listed you could buy the PS4 version and receive PS5 probably.

So when an executive says something notable it isn’t plastered all over gaming forums and Twitter? How people discuss and share their impressions. You think that won’t translate at all into the real world with friends? Please...don’t be so naive.

Again, MS said their stance in January. Sony said the exact same thing before their console launched. That to me is BS.

Sony never once claimed nor implied there wouldn’t be cross gen games.

Doesn’t take much to understand that studios don’t stop working just to wait for PS5 dev kits. Many already had games in development for the PS4 and started making a PS5 version after getting dev kits. No reason to twist this into some kind of stupid foul play on Sony’s part. You are the one creating this narrative that Sony somehow lied, by twisting their words and intentions, because you revel in spreading FUD and creating discord between each console’s fanbases.

Saying we believe in generations IS an implication in itself, especially when timed after MS saying their cross gen support. If you can’t see that for what it is, that it did in fact give many people the wrong idea, then we got nothing more to say.

But Don was right, I’m not revelling, I’m frustrated that MS gets the short end of the PR stick for being transparent and Sony gets the glory for being vague and mysterious.

The crazy think is I got an email from GameStop to reserve a PS5 starting from November 19th

I will definitely use the opportunity and snag one of the hotnesses my PS4  backlog on PS5 is going to look gorgeous and there are some PS4 games from the recent years that I want definitely experience on the 5

You said many times you enjoy the console war shit. Don’t go and pretend otherwise. People could twist and have twisted the words said on both PS’s and XBox’s sides, and it never achieves anything good.

The question is: Why can’t you enjoy your brand of choice and focus on what good it brings you, instead of putting such effort into fuelling this console war and point a finger at every sentences Sony mentions that can be twisted or misinterpreted to mean whatever narrative that suits you?

I think you should use the chance from gamestop even if for reselling.

You are correct. Sony never outright said it, but based on these news articles (and comments) the confusion was certainly there and they did nothing to correct it. Btw, I'm surprised you don't remember this because you actually commented in one of those news articles, and that was not that long ago.

I do, but Don saw where I’m at with this motivation wise. If you can’t see that’s not my problem. Look, you wanna pretend Jim Ryan’s comment didn’t give anybody the wrong impression that’s fine. Sometimes it’s nice to escape from reality :)

Otherwise feel free to look up my gamertag, I’ve been pretty busy last couple years with games. I like to debate, leave me alone. Also shame on you picking on the poor defenceless Xbox fan :p
