Exactly how will they do that? The PS5 has a PS4 emulator which shouldn't have much trouble running PS4 compatible software. That is unless they are patching a demo which has not been on the Ps Store for years... But why would they do something like that? Out of spite? Seems absurd to me.

First no BC for Joe's Diner and now THIS! Sony is the WORST!

What is a legacy demo and beta?

Demo and beta of games of PS4 games... even if the full game is playable on PS5 the demo most likely won't be.

and people are mad about this? Why would the PS5 have demos and betas of games not available on the system? This is just silly.

Have no idea. But there is always someone that just want something to pick a pitchfork.

What's with you and all the clickbait headlines? So PS4 demos aren't playable on PS5...who cares....they're demos.

The people on the discussion of that new cared enough that were discussing from the it is irrelevant to the Sony is arrogant. To you, or me it may be totally irrelevant feature, but clearly some do care.

With the exception of something like P.T, which is a special case, nobody has any right to be upset about a PS4 demo or beta not playing on their PS5. If you like that demo or beta so much, you shoulda bought the full game at some point.

I can understand someone that is coming to PS5 without having PS4 games, and with PS5 not having demos yet he would play demo of PS4 games. But that is such and odd situation that is unlikely to happen. If it was me, I would just search for some of the best reviewed games that are being cheap on used market and enjoy them. Or make a PS+ account and play that collection that have fairly good games of different genres.

They're demos tho. I assume everyone woud be fine not replaying demos of games from a previous gen.

Me too, but for some reasons there are people really pissed because of this.

Well if you read the link you'll see that it was working fine on the first time that person tried to run PT (probably had it on an external drive), but now it isn't loading and he assumes Konami decided it couldn't be played and possibly that got locked because of internet connection.

I'm far more concerned by the fact that AC Syndicate has severe lighting glitches on PS5 than I am by PS4 demos not being playable. AC Syndicate is one of the games I own and I might want to replay it at some point.

Yep, saw one of the BC reviews and that shadow blinking all the time is really something bad, sure the game is still BC, but not something that will be enjoyable to play. At least the reviewer said that was basically only happening in one section of the game, so perhaps it can be bareable.

Sony are arrogant, but not being able to play demos and that isn't a big deal.

Link is not working anymore, probably because it was taken down by Endgadget, ¿wonder why?

Bolded: So, assumed, maybe PT has compatibility issues with PS4 mode on PS5. It´s funny how people ignore the most likely answer and jump to conclusions. No, no that funny, just the good ole clickbait.

Well the link still works, was just that when I posted it, the spacebar didn't register between "html" and "And". try again please.

But yes there may be other reasons, I dunno if it should be considered a demo, but if it is considered a game then it should be on the list of not playable.

Thanks for the correct link.

My question still stands, not sure how they did that, I'm thinking that maybe they could reach out to Sony to have PT black listed from the system, or maybe PT has some sort of online functionality that I am unaware of. But I think its a useless waste of time for Konami. I believe its more a matter of the emulator. Perhaps Sony´s PR is trying to pin it up on Konami.

The situation with demos and betas isn't great, but this is a very minor inconvenience. The bigger problem is Sony's lackluster backwards compatibility, which is at least finally happening again to an extent but it's still not great. If I want to play old PlayStation games, PC is my best bet, which is now how things should be.

Probably the same way Konami asked Sony to remove the ability to download after you deleted the game.

Most of the good PS1 and PS2 games were remastered or launched as classics on PS4, or were substituted by modern sequels. I don't truly miss any of those older games. The solution Sony gave for that is PSNow. But perhaps with more pressure they start including more BC features, since they stopped having it because they saw little financial return.

Meh, to be honest demos and betas isn’t a thing to get excited about. If we talking BC it makes more sense to focus on other things like gens supported and the level of optimization games receive from current hardware.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
