Agreed, I feel like it'd be much better as a two hour movie as opposed to a three hour one. Cut some of the CGI scenes short and a few of superfluous ones aboard the ship.

The Peter Jackson version even though its already somewhat too long I still want to watch the extended cut one day.

I completely forgot there was an extended cut of the 2005 Kong.
I'll probably just watch the additional scenes on Youtube though, the film is already too long for me to comfortably get through.

Okay after watching all the additional scenes, I can see why they were cut given how long the film is already.

I did however really quite like the fish monster in the swamp scene, wouldn't have minded if they'd made room for it by trimming short stuff like the boat trip, the V-Rex fights, the stampede, and some of the attempts at developing the minor characters that mostly come off as filler.

As much as I really like the 70s Kong, the one area where it does fall a bit short is the lack of creatures outside of Kong and that random giant snake.
