Crysis is a boring game to look at for me than 20 mins. Call it art style or whatever, but uncharted looked better to me visually than crysis ever did. It looked more real to me than crysis did. I couldn't get over how good the foilage looked at lighting in some parts, coupled with great artistic design. Even the explosion and smoke effects that turned to a mushroom which may have been hand drawn, looked better than the explosion effects I saw in crysis lol. But since we are comparing pc to a console, pound for pound I have to chose uncharted, considering what it did with the inferior cell and gpu, and what it achieved to do with it and the naughtydog engine.

Uncharted was a great looking game for 2007, the best on consoles at the time without a doubt, but Crysis eclipsed it in basically every technical category from effects work to character models to shaders, and remained unsurpassed by anything on consoles until PS4 and Xbox One released six years later.

I fell into that "Uncharted 1 still looks better than everything" trap many years ago. No matter what you do, you can't win this battle. Just agree to disagree.

Could pass for an early 16-bit game.

Arcades were basically "For 25 cents, you can play the future".

Yeah, it was disappointing when they've stopped being that. Lately, there are VR arcades that pack latest VR tech that give some of that feel again.

Okami

RE4 GC

Darkstalkers

Ninja Gaiden Black

Metro Exodus: came out in February 2019 but looks like a PS5/XS game.

The Last of Us 2 is ahead of it's time in terms of pushing visual realism and maintaining it in open gameplay.

Idd.. the level of detail, particularly the animations, use of visual effects, lighting and environments is outstanding.

Best looking visuals , along with death stand stranding. Not bad considering it's running on hardware from 2012

^ 2013. Shame tho as DS was boring AF and TLOUII is typical average ND gameplay. Just so so average and what an awful story. Both of em really but they did look good.

Speaking of good looking Sony games. Omega Boost on PS1 from the studio that gave us the GT series. This could nearly pass as a DC game or even a launch PS2 game.
