BTW, yes, I've seen the clips and they deserve every bit of backlash they're getting over this. I won't cancel my Netflix account over it, but I understand the mindset of those who do. Totally disgusting. Any "anti-pedophilia social commentary" they claim to be messaging is negated by the oft-talked about sexalized acts and dances involving 11-year-olds and zoom-ins on their crotch and ass. Even lawyers are saying this is outright cp and illegal.

The IMDb content advisory page even outright said it legally constitutes pedophilia at one point:

Im not interested in this film but my understanding is that its more about a cultural clash of a conservative immigrant family with western culture and the entire controversy/backlash is because people are not getting that point across because of Netflix's abysmal marketing messed up that concept big time. The posters certainly didnt help.

I canceled my 8 year subscription of Netflix 3 days ago, because of that disgusting movie.

People can talk as much as they want. Company’s don’t care. The only thing the react to, is loosing money.

Haven't seen it, I find it odd the only friends I've seen mention it on any of my social media platforms have been conservative. Maybe that is just my friends small sample size, and not a fair representation of the actual outrage. Did millions drop Netflix or simply threaten to with no follow through? If people really want to make a statement a lot more people are going to have to cancel it.

Dark humor aside, I actually did watch the movie to see what the fuss was about. I can 100% say it deserves the backlash. It would be one thing if you filmed young girls dancing in a wider shot, even if the dance is somewhat sexual, but filming up close to their butts and crotches? It definitely is not promoting the anti-sexualization of kids, like they try to say it is. And having the final 5 mins where the main girl wants to be innocent again at the end, seemingly out of nowhere, doesn't change what happened for the rest of the film.

Movie is fucked agree deserves all the backlash it gets. No Idea what the movie is about but the small clips I seen (no idea if they official trailers or people showing snippets to make an argument) are borderline messed up. No girls that age shoudl be twerking.

Although, how many of the people complaining have checked their kids phone for their tiktok account of them twerking?

At the same time how many of these people complaining, have no issue watching child beauty pageants? Some of the shit in those is terrible and sexualised (and on top of that the parent behaviour towards their kids when they don't win). These should be banned also.

I haven’t seen any footage, and I don’t want to; but, my girlfriend said it’s disgusting. Based on everything I’ve heard, I can’t freakin believe Netflix released this. They deserve huge backlash and lost revenue.

Speaking strictly stocks all of the tech stocks dropped that week.  Amazon, Alphabet, Tesla, Apple Facebook, Netflix have been safe haven stocks since March where everyone has been sticking their money to ride out the rocky stock market.  Tesla alone went from $72.25 in March 18th topped out at $503 August 31st, Apple went from 56.09 March 23rd to $138.98 September 1st.  Netflix went from $298.84 March 16th and jumped as high as $575.37 September 1st.  A lot of people made a lot of money investing in these tech stocks over the last 5 months especially young millennial Robinhood investors.  The bottom dropped out, one because these stocks are overvalued compared to what they actually produce, secondly because investors were expecting another sitmulus which has fizzled, thirdly a lot of investors had huge gains and they sold the stock to cash out the gains, and many other reasons.  This controversy might have had an effect on the stock, but really all of the huge tech stocks fell at the same time.

People hate cancel culture but THIS IS cancel culture. YOU dont watch the movie but you HATE and Cancel it because of what IS SAID BY SOMEONE ELSE.
