I've just noticed that XBS will be $380. So just 80 of difference. O_O

Kudos to MS.

And I miss the age when consoles were considered cheap gaming. I wish gens took longer so the tech could get less expensive for consoles. Even with inflation, a $500 console feels expensive. Particularly in pandemic year.

Consoles shouldn't be under a 1000. We are lagging behind in the game industry. Next gen isn't even here yet there are far greater gpu/cpu's in the market. And sadly part of the problem if people paying for cheap consoles. For a 6 to 7 year investment, that's a shame. I don't know why sony and microsoft even bothered releasing next gen this early. They could have gone another 2 years easy. Atleast then we could have had say 32 gigs ram and a better gpu/cpu, considering what they have showed off so far isn't that different than current gen.

32GB RAM wouldn't work. Unless you want $600+ consoles. 16GB is more than enough, granted some of that will be allocated to OS. I mean even the RTX 3080 has 10GB VRAM as base. In comparison Xbox Series X has 10GB of fast ram and other 6GB slower but usable memory, PS5 16GB of GDDR6 which is slightly lower but one speed.

Also better but also at a cost. A RTX 3080 will is around $700 assuming you can get a hold of one for that price. A RTX 3070 will probably offer slightly higher performance than consoles ($500), yet cost the same as a whole console and arguable won't age as well with its 8GB of VRAM.

This is the arguably the first generation of consoles where consoles have really high performance relative to whats on the PC market. And even have some advantages like custom architectures that fully take advantage of state of the art SSD's without you spending a considerable amount of money on new motherboards that support PCI-e 4 and expensive SSD. Granted this is the best time to jump into PC gaming after the terrible GPU launches over the last years.

Really, the faster the console launches the better for the tech industry. Ie higher demand for SSD's pushes down NAND prices. So lower priced SSD's for everyone. This benefits everyone. I'm down to upgrade my PC with 2TB of fast NVMe next year assuming prices drop. New consoles push the games industry forward. Seriously, we need to get away from games being designed around those Jaguar cores and slow HDD's asap.

$399 and $499 for Digital and Disk version is quiet an amazing price for the Hardware you get and the quality of the Launch Games. 7 years ago you were spending $499 for an XBox One and Kinect...just imagine. In two months from now, Zen2 CPU, custom RDNA2 AMD GPU, Bluray 4K and a super fast I/O and SSD, and what a nice Launch Line up.

And wait, you will play some of the best exclusive games for 6-7 years, then "again" PS6 :D

And what about FFXVI PS5 Console exclusive, and God of War II in 2021 ? This is crazy.

Technical showcase? UE5 demo.

But why stop there, they have actually shown games showing what is possible next-gen. Which to me is by far more meaningful than any technical showcase that would show curated demo of things highlighting one feature that means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Those technical showcases of old are one of the things I am thankful they did away with this gen.

The unreal demo was basically a visual showcase,  but nothing has really been show that changes the way games can be played, or evolution/revolution if you will. I waned to see what the ps5 brings in terms of what's to be expected of a next gen system, AI that takes gaming to new levels, new levels of physics, the importance of the cpu and what that brings to games, on screen calculatons and the level of on screen action/ with particles/weather effects we can get, examples of ssd and what that brings to game design that's not possible before. I know we got a glimpse with ratchet,  but as a whole, there is alot more they could have shown to show off the true capabilities of next gen. Most of what we got is games coming out on on ps4 and some entry level ray tracing, which quite frankly don't do much than what we currently see.

Have people forgotten about that Ratchet & Clank demonstration with the instantaneous world swapping? IT's just one example, but it's the best one we have so far and hot damn is it good.

HW sales are already very low and SW will start decreasing this is the reason why this is the right year for the successor.

And about the pricing, even though I agree, you`ll see people complaining about the price on their country not being the same even if the currency is quite different.

Reminder: that's a timed console exclusive.  I'm not saying this to shit on a great get (compared to something like Deathloop).

I've just seen too many ignore the fine print at the end of that video.

Try and keep up, my man. They retracted that statement for Demon's Souls and FFXVI soon after.

I wish I had the energy to complain about all the PS5 fuck ups. I don't though. My hero Jim Sterling made a new video about it, but I don't have the energy to link to it. I have to save the energy I do have to complain in the Pontoon thread, about PS matters unrelated to the PS5 showcase. And the pontoon thread? That was autocorrect. Can't waste any energy, so that stays.

The only real complaint I have the the ludicrous pricing for 1st party games for UK and Europe. £70 and €80 is frankly absurd. That's like $91 US.

I'm hoping retail prices will fall back to sanity and will drop down back to normal as we approach closer to launch (£50-55).

I keep hearing about 'Sony's Lies' and people complaining about them and I can't help but laugh at you all. Jesus people, there's a world of difference between deliberately misleading someone and what sony's doing. Maybe it's a bit of being unclear? Maybe it's a bit of not knowing for sure what they want to divulge? Maybe it's a mistake? Whatever it is, they're not LYING (Except about the pre-order stuff, that's pretty egregious), you're all just looking for excuses to bitch. Why? What good does negativity get you?

Pathetic. Seriously pathetic.

Can I just say that I hate souls games but yet I still felt compelled to pre order demon souls. Idk why, it’s the only game I got so far

Walmart lowered my order from $70 to $50 so now im pretty happy about ordering it
