Being able to compare 3DS and Switch sales across regions is a good way to see where Nintendo have improved their presence.
We can see that in Canada and Nordic Europe the Switch was already nearing the total sales of the 3DS by the end of 2019 and could maybe have reached it by now considering how strong a year they've had so far. Seems Nintendo is gaining popularity in the cold north.
Japan is where its furthest behind compared to the 3DS, but even there it should be able to overtake it eventually.
