What do they have now?
It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

I don't really care for the game either way, so this will just be me speculating on the business side of things.
It's probably better for the game, and it may not be as much damage to the launch of Series X than people think. Diehards would buy all the stock in november-december anyway. The problem, then, becomes mostly how long will they delay it. If it releases on the first trimester next year(and if it's good) it will continue any potential momentum the console had. If the delay is any longer, and if 2021 is barren( which is possible, covid screwed things a lot) then it starts to become ugly.
Honestly, I thought it looked fine, more importantly, it looked fun. Don’t really care that it got delayed though. Can’t really play games during the school year so I wasn’t planning on getting it until next year anyways... and I’m probably just gonna get the Xbox one version because I’m not buying next gen consoles anytime soon if at all...

Sure the diehards will buy it anyway. However they need to create the momentum by 'wowing' those that buy next. If there's hardly anything providing that wow factor, sales will stall. Even if it releases first trimester 2021, the damage is already there. Holiday period is to create momentum. And yep, many things will be delayed, also for the ps5.

Maybe for a pc player. But console gamers where planing on picking their series x for this game in particular. So it's good for the game not good for the Xbox. |
Nah. It's good for Xbox as well. An amazing game is better than an "ok" game.
An amazing game gets the entire industry talking positively about a platform... An average game generally falls into obscurity or turned into a running meme.
If 343i/Microsoft can pull a Halo 3 styled success, then the Xbox Series X will be a talking point in the gaming-spheres for a long time to come and hopefully sell more hardware and Gamepass subscriptions.

The game does look good, it has some pretty high quality assets... But there are technical aspects that bring down the presentation a bit such as the lighting model being used.

Actually need to agree.
But a delayed game with more time and effort invested it, will generally turn out better than it was before.

Better delay than deliver something that isn't the best possible they can deliver, but this Covid part is a bad excuse, if that was the issue it would have been delayed and informed of this on the July event. This is truly to revamp the graphics after the backlash.

Ex. “The Series X launch line-up will be the best one in Xbox’s history” and I’m not liking how he is converting Microsoft to just be a subscription base service for games. also him saying “I feel very confident after seeing the ps5 game reveal event” |
What is wrong with him saying he feels confident after that reveal event? It revealed a pretty weak launch lineup imho, maybe Papa Phil agrees. Especially if they were discussing a Halo delay then, that would give Phil more confidence.
Also why would you fire a guy who has completely rebounded the brand from the gutter and set it on a good course for the future? And regarding services, everyone is going that way. Thats also what Microsoft as a whole is all about. Whoever they replaced Phil with would also be pushing subscriptions because it’s the future of the industry and it’s what Microsoft does.
The game looked so bad I don’t think A year would be enough to save it, seems ms only cares about their streaming services now, they are not even trying anymore.

They are literally delaying their biggest launch title to make sure it’s up to par.
