Positive. That’s a top notch cross-gen screen you got there. Insomniac is a top tier dev. Not made from ground up on PS5 though. They admitted many assets are upgraded from the base game.

Just because it uses the same engine, doesn't mean it isn't specifically designed for the ps5's hardware. Here's a comparison.

Improving on assets from the base game is the very definition of cross gen. Insomniac is just very good at what they do. Also Spiderman being the focal point of the game I’m not surprised. Compare screens of the city and people and I’m sure you will get what I’m talking about.

Not knocking the game nor downplaying it’s impact on software or hardware sales. But you trying to claim it was built from scratch on PS5 specs then that’s where I draw the line.

Edit: you always the one preaching about “experiences only possible on next gen”. Spiderman MM is pretty but an experience very much possible on PS4.

Its because MS has earned the doubt over the years. Up until today we still have only promises and their one big game turned out to be a dud grapically. You telling me they have changed and them saying they learned from may but go to do the same in july tells me that they havent changed at all. Unlike nintendo that tryed all it could with the wii u, still failed then they killed it and moved on. Nintendo knew when to stop.

If the biggest issue they have is a lack of showmanship this is gonna be a good gen for Xbox. Compared to 2013 a lack of clear communication is a blessing and frankly a bit nit picky to find flaws. Lol in the end who really cares if they can’t communicate their intentions for showings.

They spent untold hundreds of millions to have more studios cranking away then PS, in the end the games will do the talking. Gameplay is inevitable.

Comunication is just one of their problems and a simple one at that, that for some reason they cant get over after so many years. After this event you got to admit that buying studios wont fix their issue of lack of talent, they will just pump out more low quality games quicker, wich does at least fix one of their problems wich is low output. Quality is still a hell of a long ways to go it seems. And as long as gamepass is their main buisness plan, I dont see them ever fixing that on issue.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Maybe you misunderstood. Push sales and the IP is popular? Sure. It’s more or less agreed upon it’s based off the 2018 original in many aspects. It’s not pushing the hardware. Doesn’t mean it won’t sell.

Are you sure about that?

Thats Ray-traceing right?
The light bounces, and the reflections?

Lack of talent, tell that to Playground and Obsidian. The other studios don’t have near perfect records like those but are still capable of making great games. I mean cmon we getting a Xbox exclusive Skyrim. I don’t need to see gameplay to know Obsidian has that in the bag.

I mean they made it clear they are doing both small to large scale games. Guess that’s the next stigma to overcome. But I wouldn’t say they are lacking quality. Aside from Bleeding Edge games like Ori 2, Gears Tactics, and Minecraft Dungeons got good scores. This month has 4 XGS games and I don’t expect all of them to be critical duds either.

Maybe Battletoads, but Flight SIM and Wasteland 3 each have a ton of care put into them if you keep track. Tell Me Why strikes me as a wild card.

Just to put a point Pema always bring, engines are brought over the previous one. It is incrementary, it doesn`t toss out the previous one. So you could make a next-gen game using the assets from 8th gen (like Gran Turismo had been doing models for next gen and then scalling it back to put into current gen). Not saying that is what Insomniac made here. And I can say this looks much better than what was on the show, but I still believe they could have made it work fine on PS4, there isn`t anything noticeable that couldn`t be scalled back or that would only work on PS5.

He always preaches about experiences only possible on next gen and as pretty as the game looks by his own criteria it doesn’t fit his description.

It would probably be the same experiance, but the graphics would be worse.
You can see the lightning/shadows, and reflections are "new gen" worthy compaired to the PS4 version.
The textures on the suit look better too.

Is it just a better looking game than the PS4 version? yes.
Could it have run on the PS4 (and just looked worse)? yes.

But isnt this what new gens are? You get better looking games.
Very rarely is there stuff thats only possible (gameplay wise) via new hardware.

Mainly new gens are about getting bigger and better looking games.

Theres probably people that would argue, Halo 5, would be possible as a Xb360 game, just graphics cut back some.
Same as theres people that will claim gameplay wise, call of duty on the PS2, isnt drastically differnt in terms of gameplay on the PS4/Xb1.
What you cant argue, is that graphics havnt changed since.

Well yeah, but new experiences is a pretty broad concept. For example they could just raise the swinging speed and it would already be an experience not possible on current gen.

The difference between MS and Sony is that Sony wants to push new tech and experiences so that it wouldn't work on ps4, while with MS its the opposite. For MS its simply more important that everyone can play their games on GP.

I don’t want to get off track here too much. This is meant for another topic. I’ll just focus on the bold to make the general point this is a beautiful, top notch, yet cross gen caliber game. People shouldn’t dismiss Xbox’s launch because it doesn’t have games that push the hardware when the same is technically true for the competition. As pretty as the game is, it’s a launch title. There simply is no time to squeeze all that hardware potential.
