Despite multiple comments on exclusivity hurting FF7 sales, Square-Enix proudly announced that FF7Remake shipped over 5 million units and sold through digital version.

FFXV was the previous fastest selling FF game. It did:

5 million launch shipment
6 million shipped and sold after 1.5 months (holiday season)
7 million shipped and sold after 1 year

FF7R on one platform will outsell it. It also has already broken digital records for SE: 2 million digital on PSN alone.
I expect FF16 and FF7R2 to be timed exclusive to PS5 considering SE can break records with the Playstation userbase by itself.

Haha I just came here to say those numbers seem a little low to me. Considering amount of hype around the release, and the fact that the current PS4 userbase is about the same now as the Xbox One + PS4 combined back in 2017, I expected FFVII:R to vastly outperform FFXV. I mean, it's FFVII!

Also -- I know this is OT, but it's kind of BS that this game is exclusive at all tbh.

5-6 months to do 5m+ as a exclusive is pretty decent for FF7R.

Great sales but foolish to think it being exclusive hasnt resulted in overall lower sales.
Probably would have sold 1m+ on PC and XBOX ONE each

Low sales for a game released close to next gen systems, timed exclusive and “episodic”.
