Doesn't hurt that the PS4 has more Capcom games than Switch does by a mile..Not to mention that most of Switch's Capcom support are mostly late ports. Maybe if there were a few original (non-port) titles on Switch, that percentage might be higher for Switch. Octopath Traveler, Astral Chain, Daemon x Machina, and others have proven that original third party titles can be successful on Switch. Outside of Mega Man 11, has Capcom developed any other original AA-AAA title for Switch?

That's the entire point though:

Capcom's software pipeline is supported primarily by the PS4 and with RE, DMC, MH all breaking records Capcom are going to double down on the PS5. Same with SE, FF7R2, FF16, Project Athia, KH4, Nier are all going to be on PS5 and not SW, resulting in SE being heavily dependent on PS5.

We are talking about JP third party software in JP only, this article is about JP only, stop bringing the ww sales here.

Wrong.

The conversation was about how Japanese third party developers were doing in Japan, not Worldwide. You just hijacked it and tried to push global sales to give a point that nobody asked for.

Wrong again.

The initial post was making a statement on JP third party software support by using JP sales. This has proven to be a poor inidication, as I have mentioned prior, most JP pubs get most of their sales overseas and so JP third software pipeline is decided on overseas sales rather than domestic.

Seems like Cy Games must have some deal with Sony, because they've also had that Granblue Fantasy action-RPG long in development only for PS4. But that's even more ridiculous, as it's a Japanese-centric game that seems likely to be pushed to 2021 now, releasing only for a system that'll be fizzling out by then.

PS4's software sales absolutely dominate SW worldwide. Granblue Fantasy is not Japanese centric, most of its sales will be overseas.

I dont really agree or disagree with a lot of what you say, but Granblue fantasy is absolutely Japanese centric. Youre referring to a game that is based off of one of the top 10 mobile games app in Japan which makes it a huge money maker. It doesnt even have an international release. Even if the console game does manage to sell more overseas than in Japan, it certainly will have an abnormal sales ratio between Japan and the rest of the world

"Granblue Fantasy is not Japanese centric", Yet whenever the devs send out a thank you note for sales, they only bother to do so in Japanese:

150,000 day after release for Japan in early February, compared to 350,000 worldwide a month after release for other regions in late April. Shouldn't be hard to do the math. Well over half those sales are from the Japanese/Asia region. They haven't even bothered to make an English Twitter for the game yet.

Have you tried searching for blu-rays of the anime in english lately? You'll find the first season, as long as you have a blu-ray player that plays Region B/2 discs. Given how long it's been since those released, and there's still no sign of season 2 releasing from Madman, I've begun to lose hope.

Again, not sure why you're bringing worldwide software sales to a thread where it's not relevant. Especially when you just make general claims without any actual knowledge on the subject.

Ultimately, what I think most of us are saying is that Capcom and other companies in Japan are missing out by just releasing ports or very little on Switch. Considering how well Switch is selling  worldwide, don’t you think companies should consider investing something that’s a sure thing right now and not just rely on something that (while a high chance of succeeding) has not released yet and an unknown amount of a user base at this time?

Thats almost like saying Atlus shouldn’t be releasing anything but late ports on Switch. That SMTV should only be on PS just because. Fortunately, Switch has P5S (despite not having the original game in the first place), SMTV, and, hopefully, more on the way for Switch.

What even is that source for that graph? lol

Switch 3rd party software sales is a question of supply. Ofc it is not going to be as much as PS4 when the biggest players ( FIFA / EA, GTA V, Capcom, just to name a few) miss the platform. But the Switch has shown often enough to be a very lucrative platform for publishers.

And the PS4 Vita age has been losing 3rd party support in Japan. A lot of small and mid tier devs went either multiplatform or Switch exclusive as its the only console atm that is keeping the market alive in Japan. And those are companies that are not able to do easy worldwide releases, they depend on their own market.

Sony only supports the biggest of developers in Japan but the smaller ones are still a sizeable chunk of the market and they have been making the switch.
PS5 will only reinforce this.

The name of this article: "Famitsu Sales: Week 28, 2020 (Jul 06 - Jul 12)". Bring overseas sales here is irrelevant.

Bold: doesn't matter, we are talking about the sales in JAPAN only here!
