Forums - Gaming Discussion - Phil Spencer Says Xbox Series X Games Aren't Being Held Back By Xbox One

Personally, I saw Microsoft Flight Simulator's latest trailer, and if this game runs on the Series X the same as it shows in the trailer, that's some amazing next-gen shit right there.

I haven't played a Flight Simulator since whichever version of it was available in the 90s. So this will be the first I play in like 20 something years. Can't wait!

Define identical. You can have the core game sure but Series X can still offer ray tracing, no pop in, draw distances, better AI, texture improvements, etc. While the base game is identical it’s the things working in the background that can make the Series X version so much more.

Who says Xbox One has to hit 1080p? Halo 5 was dynamic so it dipped when action went up.

Also comparing a launch title to Horizon 2 which is a year 2 game isn’t exactly fair. Why don’t you compare Halo Infinite to Spiderman MM????? Both launch games. My guess is that you know that game is cross gen caliber, as in assets that are shared with PS4 base game. They give it the similar next gen improvements as say Halo. The sheer irony and double standards on you. So long as Spiderman MM exists, Sony ain’t no better then Ms. In fact I argue they are worse by limiting the PS4 version to artificially drum up next gen demand.

If any console can hit benchmarks while still looking next gen it’s Xbox. Sorry but people consider 4K/60fps part of what makes the generational leap. If Gears 5 and Forza 7 hit 4K/60 then I have no doubts Xbox gamers won’t have to settle for less.

Identical in the sense how ultra settings on pc are identical to the base console versions. It's not like we don't know what that means. You can just check out some youtube videos and see for yourself. It obviously looks better but that's not the same thing as a generational leap we typically see when new consoles come out. That's not because pc's aren't far more powerful and could do a lot more with the engine, it's because they are designed to look and play identical across all platforms.

HZW will be coming out in 2021 and we haven't seen any gameplay of Spider man yet. You seem to be convinced Spider man its just a cash grab but I'm sure there's more of a technical reason why its not coming to ps4. We will see but its not just about these early games that are cross gen with Xone during the first 2 years. I'm talking about an entire console generation where MS's exclusives will be designed around the limitations of the 4Tflops Lockhart and average pc's too. I was hoping RTX cards would be more common once the new gpu's come out, but they are actually expecting a price hike as there's a big demand from cryptocurrency miners. Will be interesting to see what the new gpu's going to cost, but I don't expect RTX 2080 like performance to become standard on pc anytime soon.

I don't think there was any confirmation SM:MM won't come to PS4, but on technical reason not to just if dev don't want to use the assets on PS4 more than the assets they twiked for PS5. Because if the engine is the same with improvements they probably could easily make a PS4 version of it.

It looks stunning.  I haven't played anything flight related since aces of the pacific back in the day.  I willing to give this one a look.  I could see myself getting a good buzz and trying to fly and land of these planes.

Ace Combat 7 looks very good on VR, will MS support VR in FLight Simulator for PC?

I haven't seen any info on the VR but that would be a nice addition.

I never had any interest in Flight Sims myself but I certainly do now. By far the most next gen game I have seen, maybe even after the July 23 show. The sheer ambition of it all making a 1:1 Earth with dynamic weather and clouds. Even traffic and wildlife they claim.

Like many people, first thing I’m going to pick the nearest airport and fly over my house :)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yep with a lot of power available and true first person view a flight simulator would be fantastic to anyone that likes flight sims or flying.

I'm going to land the 787-10 Dreamliner on my drive way. I'm sure I'll find out a way to make that thing stop within 10 meters...

If the river is modeled accurate enough I should be able to land a De Havilland Beaver next to my house :)
Weird the think I didn't even live here yet when FSX came out. It's been 14 years!

I thought they already confirmed it won't be on ps4? It would be a bit stupid of Sony not to use Spider man to showcase the ps5's hardware as its such a big franchise. Then again Insomniac has been working on 2 launch titles at the same time, so who knows how much effort they'll put in the Spider Man game. Maybe it won't be a next gen masterclass but they did say this, though:

"We are also excited for the game to demonstrate the power of PlayStation 5 this holiday. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will show off near-instant loading, ray-tracing, 3D audio and the DualSense controller. We’ve upgraded our characters with 4D scans and improved skin shading for more realistic looking characters and spline-based hair that moves far more naturally. Many of the city’s assets have also been updated to take advantage of the new console. As you experience Miles’s story, you’ll see, hear, and feel things in a whole new way, all thanks to PS5."

What would show the power of PS5 would be the PS5 version not the absence of PS4 version, actually having both can work to show how much better the PS5 version is. And considering the assets and engines are almost the same of what was on PS4 there is little reason not to. It is a different situation than H2FW or GT7. At least that is my feel after seeing the trailer (that when show I didn't even see it much better than the PS4 version, but then side by side I saw the big jump).
