The peak, the major driven sales, is Animal Crossing. COVID helps, but the true system sellers are Animal Crossing not COVID. Animal Crossing always a big hit, but the potential scope grows. The hybrid system with good games brought appreciation to Nintendo franchises. In this system, games sell more for longer because they reinforce Nintendo's sales policy. |
I totally agree but at the same time Animal Crossing: New Horizon might not be as big as it's been if there wasn't COVID, it's launch ended up coinciding with the perfect storm of people looking for ways to escape this stressful situation. Now we cannot know for sure if it wouldn't hit the same heights but looking at overall gaming spent in the last few months we cannot completely disregard its impacts.
I don't think Ring Fit Adventure stock situation would be resolved anytime soon, it could maintain 5-15 position during July but with the current supply in Japan also nowhere near reaching demand, and knowing the stock situation on Amazon.com in July - Ring Fit is 17th behind only Paper Mario, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizon. It's ahead of Ghost of Tsushima but obviously, without digital it would be difficult for it to be in the Top 5. Still, it would be a fantastic result considering the supply is still not meeting demand.
In August the game has dropped considerably from 17th place in July to 88th place in August. New stock is arriving on the 10th of August, & this is a small data point since there have only been 3 days in August. But right now you can only buy it on Amazon through resellers for $105 or more.
