It means a bit more competition for the Switch, but it won't be a drastic change. Most people who want a Switch aren't suddenly not going to not buy it just because new systems came out. Also we're talking about probably $500 consoles versus Switch at $200/$300. I think it will affect sales a little bit just from the fact that Switch will no longer be the newest thing on the market, but Switch can easily offset any loss of marketing hype by having its first price cut early next year after almost 4 years on the market, and probably a premium version of the Switch next year as well. Switch won't suddenly stop having monster sales just because new systems come out.

good question, obviously the moment both launch will be the moment the cliff approaches

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

It won’t be at all. I really hope when the switch has a natural decline next year, people don’t claim that it is due to increase competition from next gen.

Why are people still clamoring for Switch to fail?

Actually, I think the Switch is such an enticing product and good at selling itself that it will hamper the other two launch sales ....

Or maybe not 👻

Won't happen, Switch didn't really affect PS4 and X1 sales, it also won't affect PS5 and XSX. And sure enough PS5 and XSX shall not affect Switch sales. There will be a drop but due to age and sales curve.

I suspect there will be some impact. They're not totally different products in the sense that they compete for a similar segment of a household's budget.

Lately Switch sales have benefited from a drop off in PS4/X1 sales, which in turn has occurred in part due to the imminent release of the next gen machines.

Why didn’t the Wii U benefited from the “drop off” of PS3 and Xbox?

I think the switch sales benefited from Animal Crossing releasing.

Because the Wii U was the Wii U... The console has to have some reasonable appeal to be viewed as a substitute for other forms of entertainment.

But I agree that Animal Crossing played in to the increase as well. So did the pandemic.

Switch has the monopoly in handheld sector. Its only time when people are getting bored of mobile games and will move to the other handheld device.

Switch sales will be noticeably lower next year. But that has little to do with the launch of the ps5/xsx.

yep. Unless another pandemic happens in 2021.
