No effect due to PS5/XSX, will slow down a little as part of it normal sales curve.

It means a bit more competition for the Switch, but it won't be a drastic change. Most people who want a Switch aren't suddenly not going to not buy it just because new systems came out. Also we're talking about probably $500 consoles versus Switch at $200/$300. I think it will affect sales a little bit just from the fact that Switch will no longer be the newest thing on the market, but Switch can easily offset any loss of marketing hype by having its first price cut early next year after almost 4 years on the market, and probably a premium version of the Switch next year as well. Switch won't suddenly stop having monster sales just because new systems come out.

As much as PS4 and XBO were affected by Switch. Aka, not much.

good question, obviously the moment both launch will be the moment the cliff approaches

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

It won’t be at all. I really hope when the switch has a natural decline next year, people don’t claim that it is due to increase competition from next gen.

The Switch will be affected in the amount of multiplats it will be able to borrow from the PS/XB brands. Currently, the Switch gets ports/remakes of PS3/XB360 games, as well as ports of PS4/X1 games. At the beginning of the PS5/XSX gen, many non-exclusive games will continue to be published on PS4+PS5/X1+XSX, and will be portable to the Switch, but as the generation advances, games will mostly leverage the new generation of hardware, so SW portability might drop.

It may take a while before the new models of the Switch catch up with the new capabilities, the only question remaining is if games that will be made for PS5/XSX will still be portable to a weaker platform, and for that only game dev leads, game studio owners or time can reveal.

Actually, I think the Switch is such an enticing product and good at selling itself that it will hamper the other two launch sales ....

Or maybe not 👻

Why are people still clamoring for Switch to fail?

Won't happen, Switch didn't really affect PS4 and X1 sales, it also won't affect PS5 and XSX. And sure enough PS5 and XSX shall not affect Switch sales. There will be a drop but due to age and sales curve.

There has never been an instance where the release of one system of a given brand affected sales of another brand. For example, the Switch's release didn't affect sales of the PS4 or XBO, and the 360's release didn't hurt the PS2. It's just not something that happens. The Switch could very well decline next year, but it passing its peak right after the release of the PS5 & XSX would be coincidental, not causal. The Switch is after all close to what is normally middle age for a Nintendo console.
