Its been established as a full game by Insomniac game for the PS5. Its a smaller scale game like Uncharted:The Lost Legacy. Can call it an expansion if you wish.

I thought he was making a comparison between an updated RDR2 on XSX (smart delivery) compared to the PS5 (being a paid item).

upon rereading the comment, seems he was making a comparison between an updated RDR and a new SM game release.

So yeah, I misread (I think) and you would indeed be correct.

Sorry for the confusion, but if you've been following the news articles there's been a lot of that from the get-go with this title. I still see a shocking amount of people refer to it as Spider-Man 2 or a sequel. I did my best to cover all the bases when describing it.

Pretty disingenuous to state an unknown as a fact.

Unless you know that Sony is not continuing (or changing into something better) their 8-year-old cross-buy programme, or their 4-year-old patch enhancement programme?

Its been established as a full game by Insomniac game for the PS5. Its a smaller scale game like Uncharted:The Lost Legacy. Can call it an expansion if you wish.

Going by this article, It was offered as part of the U4 DLC pass, and most sites I've seen refer to Lost Legacy as an expansion, so I'd assume Miles Morales is the same.

For the record, if they offer Miles Morales for free to Spider-Man season pass owners I'll stand corrected. But every time I've searched for info I've seen no hint, so feels safe to assume otherwise. Not trying to be disingenuous.

Its a standalone game, why do you care?

Did I say it wasn't? Who's the one that cares here? I'm trying to clear up misinformation. Seems to be a bit going around.

I know what you are trying to do. Keep trucking I suppose.

Microsoft will one-up Sony by starting their conference with a Red Dead Redemption 2 port instead of a GTAV port.

I don’t know about an RDR2 port, but there are rumors that Rockstar have been working on an RDR1 remake in the RDR2 engine. They could announce that on the Xbox show if it is real.

A next gen Skyrim port on the Xbox show would be pretty funny, lol.

Every time I've heard talk about a RDR1 remake, it's always the code got lost somewhere, then was locked in a safe, dropped to the bottom of the ocean and never heard of again.

If they could pull it off though it's main appeal would be the PC base who never got it. That would play great to Xbox's branding on cross-platform. For console though, I reckon it already looks nice enough with One X enhanced, and will look even better on XSX. Hard to say if there'd be that much more demand overall for R1 remake over an R2 port, but the port would be much easier to make.

Edit: Going back, seems it was actually about messy code making a remaster practically impossible. Guess a remake with the RDR2 engine wouldn't be too complicated.

Sure, if we are talking about this game then yeah it will be like Lost Legacy, First Light. But it won't be for PS4 owners since it appears to be running on an enhanced engine designed to take account of the PS5 architecture.

Though I imagine there will be a Spider-Man re-release for PS5 that combines both the original game, the DLC an this expansion into a single package.

You're welcome to go through this whole article and comments, but I'm not sure if it'll help or increase the confusion. Crux of the issue, and likely what @hinch is so angsty about, is they don't want the word 'expansion' associated with this release. Problem is, they also keep comparing it to Lost Legacy, which along with First Light are universally considered (by consensus) stand-alone expansions. If you read the bio for Lost Legacy, it even mentions it was originally designed as a direct expansion, and they later converted it into a stand-alone. There's speculation this game was likely the same.

The only reason this matters is marketing, and it's stupid, because now it just has everyone tying themselves in knots. Seeing as they lead everyone into believing this was a sequel to begin with, this stuff doesn't help.

As for being on a new engine, only reference was the original Sony rep talking about enhancements to the engine for use with PS5. It'd be a big deal to move to a whole new engine, so seems unlikely.

And yeah, a complete re-release with the original game and all extra content would be nice for people who buy outside year one. If I ever get a PS5, I'd likely pick that up.

Edit: I also don't want to derail the thread, so I've said enough.

Announce impressive exclusive games with a reasonable amount of gameplay.

The original wasn't exactly a heavy hitter and nowhere in the league of other large IPs like Halo or Gears.

I think of it like a side game more in line with games like Returnal. AA game, moderate budget and might be good but not a platform seller per say.

I see Hellblade 2's purpose more as a graphical showcase than a big seller. Which is important too at this stage of the generation.

Did not see anything that comes close to gameplay yet, graphical showcase yes but for what?

I might have missed information but i did not see it running on an Xbox, just a cgi movie for a game that has started development.

Show Halo Infinite ,..... thats it.
