Forums - Gaming Discussion - In your mind, what will the Xbox SX conference have to do to beat the PS5 conference?

Answer the damned question!

Fantastic games 65 51.18%

100% backwards compatible with every Xbox 3 2.36%

VR Support 3 2.36%

Shockingly low price 21 16.54%

There's NOTHING they can do 31 24.41%

Other (please explain) 4 3.15%

Total:127

Games of course are a very important first step for any good conference. However, the games being presented alone will not be enough. How they are presented will decide whether or not the conference is good or not. For me, a good price will go a long way as that will put some pressure on Sony. Keep in mind we do not know the PS5's price currently. A smooth presentation with great titles, both new and established, with a good price, can win some gamers and potential buyers for Microsoft.

Of course, the presentation and titles will be key here.

Steel Battalion with the original controller and with VR support.
The system is $150

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

VR Support, but they'll have to be serious with it this time and show a headset and games. None of that mixed reality is coming to XBox One X on repeat.

oof Alyx running on consoles would be hype worthy

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Yep, I hope it comes to psvr 2.0. I doubt MS will do something with VR anytime soon.

No mention of the hat in the title, though...

You say Microsoft just doesn't have to mess up but people lose their shit over anything Sony does. Just revealing the PS5 logo made some people orgasm. Microsoft has to do better than "just don't mess up" to impress those people. Something crazy unexpected like partner up with Sega. They need "a megaton".

those who lose their shit about anything Sony does will never leave Playstation. They might buy an Xbox as well but not only an Xbox.

MS could have the best 20 next gen games exclusive on Xbox and those who lose their shit about anything Sony wouldn't stop to buy a Playstation.

MS can win over "normal" customers who aren't extreme fans of something. Those didn't lose their shit because of a PS5 logo, most won't even post in gaming forums at all.

I think it's save to say that Sony's brand name is so big in Europe and some other places that MS won't sell more consoles than Sony does even if MS will do more right next gen. But they could at least manage to take away a few million sales and make the Xbox brand more successful (not only with console sales but also with Gamepass on PC and so on)

these remarks seem to paint the picture that people who liked the conference are sheep  hysterical and  losing their shit and that Playstation is the only brand with rusted on fans , the truth is the show ended up with views ranging from disappointing to terrific that's usually how subjective viewpoints play out.

It's safe to say that in regards to MS we already know that there will be no repeat of the last launch, so they don't have to worry about another exodus happening, the question about how much MS being in a better position translates to an increase in sales and other metrics isn't something I see being answered by early release games

Sure we would love to see the big games early  but nobody likes a boom or bust cycle and all of us have been through enough gens now to know that the first year is in many ways just laying the groundwork for what's to come you may look good with a great first lineup capable of selling units up against supply constraints but what happens twelve months later when the competition releases some of their bigger games for the holiday season carrying through to the first quarter of the new year with better console supply.

Anyway my feeling is both fan bases know what each sides bread and butter is, and both will equally fantasize about what the unknown games will mean to them so with this and the way todays gaming eco systems work I will go out on a limband prophesise that all things being equal we will see similar sales differential  WW but MS will take a lead in NA similar to PS4 so they will catch up the 4 million or whatever it is and increase by around that number worst case scenario they  only catch up with a small lead.

Microsoft will one-up Sony by starting their conference with a Red Dead Redemption 2 port instead of a GTAV port.

Why not. Game will only be a couple years old, and with smart delivery they can get the fully enhanced XSX version for free. Technically a newer game than Spider-Man, and PS5 early adopters will have to pay for the remaster/enhancement/standalone-expansion of that game.

Did you think Sony had published all of thier exclusives ?
They'll have another announcement in the future.

MS will also be announcing more games in the future though, they're not going to announce everything they have at the July event. If Sony announced 20 timed or full exclusives at their reveal event this past week, and MS has already announced 9 timed or full exclusives between X019, The Game Awards 2019, and their May event, then that means that MS only need to announce 12 more timed or full exclusives on their July event to surpass what Sony has already announced.

Lol. You are overestimated the output of MS game studio.
I can't answer the hypothetical story.

"We wanted AAA games that would fully demonstrate the horsepower of the machine. But some of these smaller games are making very cool and innovative use of the new features of the console," he said. "So we allowed the show to give a sense of the sheer range of gameplay experience that will be available on PlayStation 5. And this is just the start. There are so many more games that we have in development."

Pretty disingenuous to state an unknown as a fact.

Unless you know that Sony is not continuing (or changing into something better) their 8-year-old cross-buy programme, or their 4-year-old patch enhancement programme?

Its been established as a full game by Insomniac game for the PS5. Its a smaller scale game like Uncharted:The Lost Legacy. Can call it an expansion if you wish.
