Forums - Gaming Discussion - MS Executive says Devs will need to learn how to work around Slower SSD on XSX

What multiplatform games will take full advantage of PS5 SSD? Most games aren't open world to begin with and even the ones that are isn't really that fast paced. Hell, the xbox one x can handle forza horizon 4 at 4k just find when cars are going over 200 mph.

Devil May Cry V and Final Fantasy 7 Remake both have irritating load times. Simple example how a faster SSD can benefit non open world games.

Xbox series x SSD will be more than sufficient for those games. You don't need to sacrafice CPU/GPU for SSD when most games won't take full advantage of it.

No different than how devs will need to work around PS5's less power. Consoles have their own strengths. PS5 is the SSD.

Who said you need to sacrifice GPU/CPU for SSD?

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Sony, that is why the PS5 CPU/GPU is weak.

Complain with the executive. You also said XSX would run the same UE5 demo at 4k60fps and I'm still waiting for your reasoning on how it would achieve it.

Also it isn't only open world games that will benefit from it (and a lot of the AAA games nowadays are more open world game inspired than anything).

GPU and CPU on xbox one series x is more powerful. As I stated before, Forza horizon 4 already prove you can stream 4k assets at a fast rate on xbox one x, so the ssd won't be a problem.

Sure you can stream fast with Xbox SX SSD , and Xbox One X can stream open world games without having SSD

But we are talking about games with graphic like UE 5, a next gen graphic with has 8k texture and billion of billion triangles.

Didn't ask for source of the CPU/GPU being weaker than XSX but where Sony said they decided for a weak (you even said weak instead of weaker) CPU/GPU to have SSD on the console.

Who is the author again??? i dont see a legitimate writer on that side, check Digital foundry if you want legitimate and trusted tech reviewer

also he wrote " The second reason has to do with what we already know about Navi clock speed scaling. RDNA parts do not scale well at higher clock speeds. Overclocking tests on the RX 5700 "

This is big mistake, RDNA 2 =/= RDNA (RX 5700) they have different ipc,  thermal tolerance, efficiency power etc. RDNA 2 has better and mature process die. We cannot use RX 5700 as an example. this a false.

And that even ignores that I/O isn't just for loading times.

So even MS is acknowledging the advantage of Sony while Sony won't say devs need to learn how to do a game on weaker GPU/CPU.

Just because Sony doesn't say it, it doesn't mean it isn't a fact.
