They are still new games taking advantage of the HW, and most of the titles on the first two years are crossgen so hardly wouldn't been the most sold titles.

What are you trying to imply?

Just implying or pointing out the fact many will be early adopters of 9th gen consoles for superior experiences of cross gen games.

You COULD just keep playing your 8th gen hardware, there will be cross gen content for a couple years. Yet many will upgrade and it seems like cross gen disparity will be bigger this time.

And from those many very few will be buying their new console to play older games on it, crossgen sure they will play some (but the newer version) but very few will buy the new console to replay their old games.

Im playing half life ep 1 and 2 now on ps3. How I wish it had bc... so many framerate issues, loading times, sound bugs etc.
And considering how many games I have in my backlog from this generation I would love to have bc in my next system.i guess I spent too much time playing destiny when I should be playing other stuff...

Again, you miss the point.

Nobody is suggesting people are gonna buy 9th gen consoles just to play old games. However, many are going to spend time playing BC titles. Some might spend minutes, others may spend hundreds of hours playing BC titles.

Just listen to internationally renowned opera singer Enrico Pallazzo. Great games don't exactly lose relevance. He wants to play Half Life 2 and he's doing it on PS3. Its better on a X1X, but the PS3 version is still viable for a console port.

Buy a ps5 to play a HL2 version for ps3?
Are their still pcs / laptops out there that can't run HL2? The orange box is less than $20

If he had mentioned Resistance 3, I could get behind that. Good game with a campaign not far from HL2's. But using BC to play ports, way down the list.

He did mention he was tired from Sony and was going to buy a gaming PC.

There are plenty of budget laptops on the market they don't play HL2 well. But that's just an example, BC could potentially give access to thousands of PS3 games. Some that don't exist on other platforms.

Personally I think Resistance 3 was boring... but those God of War games on PS3 are pretty good!

I doubt that. HL2 even runs well on my old Windows tablet with Atom CPU, which is a lot slower than PS3/Xbox360/WiiU.

But nevertheless I'd love some PS3-BC for PS5, f.e. to play Metal Gear Solid 4 again.

Netbooks can run the game just fine... And have done so for years.

Half Life 2 is a game that is capable of running fine on any PC sold today.

Been following the debate, I’m just gonna throw out there people didn’t buy PS4 in the millions year 1 to play KZ Shadowfall and Knack. They bought the console for an investment in the new generation and to play the best versions of cross gen titles. BC tends to be a feature people want around launch period to ease themselves into the next gen/finish off unplayed games.

But hey if that’s not your cup of tea you can wait for the first round of price cuts. That’s what I did for 360 and XB1. This time around I just don’t want to play the “poor mans” version of Halo Infinite. I imagine that mentality is felt by many others in regards to cross gen multiplats if they have the money to do something about it.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

People don't buy new consoles to play old stuff, they want new gaming experience and games. Many bought a PS4 with Killzone: Shadowfall as it was a promising looking game that got a lot of media attention back with with the consoles reveal. Its sales were very much front ended and did reasonable well verses more established and bigger IP's like Battlefield 4, during the launch and Q4.

BC is a nice thing to have for consoles, but come on...
