Forums - Gaming - Apparently tech journalist Zenji Nishikawa has a revolutionary scoop; claims SEGA has a major announcement for their 60th anniversary. It is a Tech related announcement

Sega doesn't know how to make a good Sonic game for ages, but their other stuff are pretty good actually

Lets talk about SEGA on a global level.

Yakuza is gaining popularity to the point where Yakuza 6 sold on par with Japan. Yakuza 6 has not even sold 1 miliion copies.

Persona, which is not even developed by SEGA, is a key IP.

Sonic? - Global brand power but quality issues.

Bayonetta? - They don't invest in it.

All SEGA's classic IP are auctioned out ( Streets of Rage, Panzer Dragoon, )

What IP's are you talking about?

You know Sega's biggest franchise is Football Manager, right ? You didn't mentioned it.

I think if it's a new console/device, I would buy it. Sega has now enough quality titles/IP as a publisher to make its own console.

No they don't. SEGA does not even have a half the star power they did during their prime. They cant even make a above good Sonic game

They own Atlus.

Persona + Shin megami Tensei (SMT) + Etrian Oddesey + Catherine.

Sega itself..... is basically just Yakuza games atm.

Still they have enough IP, if they wanted to they could make a half decent attempt at a console.

I am aware that they own Atlus. Just pointing out the SEGA's first multi million seller in awhile is not their own creation.

To make a console requires strong global IP's. They can't sell consoles off Persona and whenever decent Sonic game they got in store.

I'm going to assume it's a Dreamcast Classic Edition until further notice.

That is not revolutionary. NEW technology.

And just in case there's doubts about the lineup, here's what Sega can include from their own library:

  1. ChuChu Rocket
  2. Crazi Taxi
  3. Crazy Taxi 2
  4. Daytona USA 2001
  5. Fighting Vipers 2
  6. Jet Grind Radio
  7. Puyo Puyo 4
  8. Rez
  9. Samba de Amigo
  10. Seaman
  11. Sega Bass Fishing
  12. Shenmue
  13. Shenmue II
  14. Skies of Arcadia
  15. Sonic Adventure
  16. Sonic Adventure 2
  17. Sonic Shuffle
  18. Space Channel 5
  19. Virtua Fighter 3tb
  20. Virtua Striker 2
  21. Virtua Tennis

that would be a super dissapointment.
If thats the case, then shame on Zenji Nishikawa for reporting it as a "revolutionary scoop".

Well I'm interested.
