Unsurprisingly, Unreal Engine 5 will support Nintendo Switch: https://www.theouterhaven.net/2020/05/unreal-engine-5-will-be-available-for-nintendo-switch/

Obviously we're not going to see anything close to this demo running on Nintendo's current system, but I'm still interested to see what technical benefits it can bring to the platform over UE4.

Yes  leynos confirmed it earlier in the thread but i think his link was different, once mobile was confirmed it seemed to me to be a certainty,

On the news from VGC it was either mentioned on the article or comments that it would support mobile and gen 8 but no mention to Switch, but yes I found it odd that they would support PS4/Xbox One and mobile but not Switch. So yep a few days later we saw confirmation for Switch.

But a deal that the demo they were working together with Sony to be in the hand of another team using it on notebook at the same time and using that to take jabs at Sony?

Well, going by the traduction of the video apparently someone asked them if the engine really needed an SSD as fast as PS5's to run at that speed and they gave their answer. That is not a jab at Sony.

And again, I have no idea if the video is real or not, but this is actually not the first time they say something like this. They also said it a couple of days ago in an interview for PCgamer:

"Would this demo run on my PC with a RTX 2070 Super? Yes, according to Libreri, and I should get "pretty good" performance..."

"Regarding loading and streaming, though, Sweeney says that the PlayStation 5's SSD architecture is "god-tier" and "pretty far ahead of PCs," but that you should still get "awesome performance" with an NVMe SSD, which I'm using."

Yes you can see the contrast between the PCGamer interview and the posts with Unreal China.

UE5 tech demo runs on a laptop(RTX 2080 & 970 EVO Plus) at 1440p40+ fps, runs better than the ps5, in a notebook, so all this SSD sounds more like it is PR talking.

Are you for real m'dude!?

That was a laptop playing a VIDEO of the demo running on ps5 hardware.

How do we know this for a fact?

I'm quiet sure both PS5 and XSX will do amazing things with Unreal Engine 5, PS5 thanks to its SSD and the whole architecture developed around it, and XSX thanks to its brute power and the Velocity Architecture. I think the Demo showed on PS5 is just a glimpse of what we will see on Sony and Microsoft Next Gen Consoles. I can't wait to see the first games which will push the new hardware. But apart from the obvious jump in the graphics and visuals, I would like Developers to put much more effort in delivering "Next Gen" gameplay mechanics, physics, collision system, AI and innovation in the way Environments are loaded and streamed; there are so many new things you can do that the only limit is the Developer's imagination !

My comment is no different in nature than yours. So maybe before telling others what to do, apply it yourself.

no you did a personal attack

i merely questioned the person was downplaying a vid because it came from china

Yea, that was pretty dumb wasn't it?

And correction, not only did you accuse me of downplaying a video from china but "anything" and blatantly so.

I guess there won't be coming more out of this.

In some video, some guys chatting about the recently introduced Unreal Engine 5, a demo played in real time on PS5 hardware with a visual demonstration and all the specifics. So... we should take it at face value when some random "epic engineer" claims he done it better on his laptop.

I'm not saying that this video is real at all (mainly because I have absolutely no idea if it is or not) but let's not forget that Epic's primary objective at the end is that their engine is used for as many developers as possible, so I really doubt that they would sign a deal that would prevent them from talking about how their engine runs on PCs.

But a deal that the demo they were working together with Sony to be in the hand of another team using it on notebook at the same time and using that to take jabs at Sony?

Why would you believe that Epic and Sony had a legal deal.  Meaning that something on the level of a paid deal.  Just because Epic US showed the demo running on the PS5 doesn't mean other regions have the same goal.  The real goal of UE5 demo period is to sell UE5 to developers.  In China, demoing on the PS5 probably isn't a selling point but doing so on a PC is.  Evidently the demo can be run on PC and Probably XSX but that was not the aim of US Epic.

What is being disputed by Tim quote.  Is it that they played the demo as a video or that they ran the demo on a Laptop PC and produced the results they stated.  Also this doesn't look like some random engineer but someone who was doing a demonstration of the UE5 tech and explaining to the the crowd what type of hardware can be used to run the same demo with results.  I did not see or here Tim disputing the translation only the playing of the demo.

This is some "epic" burn to the people trying to spread a certain narrative, and yes, pun intended ;)

Of course there is a legal deal involved. Actually more than one, at least three.

First one: Sony engineers are forbidden to talk what they are working on to outsiders

Second one: Epic engineers are are forbidden to talk what they are working on to outsiders.

Third one: (this one usually is pretty complex) Neither Sony nor Epic engineers working on this project are allowed to talk about "other stuff" outside of the project.

(From my own experience working in cross-company projects).

?

To clarify. I don't really doubt the UE5 demo would run on high end pc hardware. But it is a new graphics engine, first time demonstration on new next gen console hardware. This premise on itself should make people curious how equivalent hardware would fair. To the minute detail. Where the FPS constant? Was RT active? Other things? But here we are, people who weigh vague words the same as a watchable real time demo.

Hey, actually, i got the demo on my computer, and i run it at 1080p25FPS. Facts.
