I'm not sure if Pence is allowed to do that. There are some saying he can and others saying he can't.

He can't but there is still some wiggle room for him to try.  I am not really sure if Pence is willing to throw out his political career doing a stunt like this but if he does, things should get very interesting.  We already know that Trump will do anything to stay in power but the question is does Pence want to keep riding this train or is he ready to get off.  Either way, some really dumb stuff is going to happen on Jan 6th I believe and how thing shake down should be interesting.

What Pence will do on either the 6th or 7th is ultimately ceremonial.  He doesn't get to pick who the president is, he simply counts the presented electoral votes.  Unless quite a few house democrats decides to vote otherwise nothing will change.  It's just getting comical at this point, everyday there is the next big thing that's going to overturn the election.  The conspiracy theory Trumpers hero Lin Wood all of a sudden claiming all these supreme court judges work for china, and the governor of Georgia who always sides with republicans is apparently working for Russia, and Mitch McConnell works for China because he is ready to move on from this, despite the fact all democrats hate Mitch.  The funniest statement so far thrown out by Lin Wood the other day was that Epstein is still alive and in protective services ready to come out on January 6th and drop the bomb that gets thousands of democrats arrested.  While I get some people like Trump, the time to give up on this sinking ship was the day after the election.

The rats cannot leave the sinking ship because the ship is their identity. If some outside power forced me to accept that my identity is built on lies I would also fight to my last breath to defend it. The feelings Republicans and their voters have are real and that's what you fight against. You never fight against arguments or viewpoints, you fight against feelings. A fight that you will never win. Thanks to very early indoctrination we will have to deal with the Republican ideology in 50 years still. All we can do is slowly increasing social mindshare to push extremists to the fringe.

Time is running out, though. If extremists become too powerful and numerous it's over. Just look at religion. It's too widespread to ever defeat it and there is no vaccine.

Gohmert and any other Republicans that think Pence can somehow overturn the election on the 6th are living in a fantasy world. The VP has no legal, constitutional authority to do that. The counting of the electoral votes is merely a ceremonial event. Not a single soul in this union has the power to alter or reject the Electoral vote, which is already a done deal now. The relevant part of the Constitution says, and I quote:

"The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and all persons voted for as Vice-President and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate;

The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;

The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed..."

As President of the Senate, the VP's sole role in this process is the count the votes as transmitted to him by the duly elected Electors. Congress' sole role in this process is to sit down, shut up, and be witnesses to the process. The states have certified their elections, the Electors were selected in accordance to the certified election results, and those Electors have cast their votes, 306 of those votes being for Biden, more than the requisite 270-vote majority needed to become President. Anybody that thinks this can be changed isn't just pissing in the wind, but also showing that they're either ignorant of or just don't care about the Constitution they claim to love and worship as holy writ.

It's over. Trump lost, fair and square. All that remains is a simple counting ceremony, and nobody has the right to alter or reject said count. And come the stroke of noon on January 20, we will have our new reigning, defending, undisputed President of the United States, Joseph R. Biden, Jr. And that's the bottom line, because the U.S. Constitution says so.

It feels like people haven't watched the past 4 years. The Trump administration has been violating the constitution and established customs many times and nothing happened because of it. I will believe the democrats are in control once they managed to actually push through major legislation and are able to enforce it. Doesn't matter if Biden is President in name when the Republicans are still in control of everything.

OH HELL YEAH!

*Glass Shatters*

*Sees Trump and various GOP senators continuing to defy election results.*

*Turns over*

*Sees polls for Georgia SE runoffs turning more in favor of the Democrats*

Pfff, alright! If they want to keep shooting themselves in the foot, let 'em!

The best thing the Democrats can do right now is to just leave the Republicans alone and focus on themselves. Because there is nothing the Democrats can do to the Republicans that could possibly be any worse than what the Republicans are about to do to themselves.

Apparently Rasmussen didn't get the memo.

I gotta stop assuming the GOP won't stoop any lower. Always comes back to bite me in the ass.

If the Democrats win in GA first thing they got to do is change electoral count act. Cause it's not an issue atm, but if one party won the presidency and the other controlled both houses, it could have been a legitimate issue instead of a political stunt. A little while ago, I'd have said that it wouldn't matter because you'd never get enough people to go along with a purely partisan effort to maintain power... but not so sure about that anymore.

Donnie Boy is at it again.

1 hour long call to the GA Secretary of State regarding the November Election count in GA. Full transcript is in the link as well.

All of his legal pursuits and pushes went absolutely nowhere, and with Biden’s inauguration just 17 days away, Trump is now desperate.

The only good thing about Trump is that he was too inept and unqualified to actually do 90% of the things he tried to do. Tiny blessings, I guess.

If Mike Pence or any of the other radical, hard-right republicans got into office with the same brazen assault on democracy, I'd actually fear for the US.
