Losing E3 would be devastating for me personally. The great thing about E3 is the timing, 3 days of conferences. If everybody just does their own digital events going forward they will all pick different days or weeks even so that they can have all the attention to themselves. We would go from 3 days of compacted awesomeness, to having everything we get at E3 spread out over a few weeks instead, that is nowhere near as fun.

Yeah that's how I feel too.  I don't care how "relevant" E3 is...it's still a fun time for the gamers with a wealth of info in a short period of time.

It's a shame cause E3 has always been a fun tradition and was basically gaming heaven for those few days each year to be able to watch every conference back to back, but an inevitability as it has been losing its relevance year over year and this will just speed it up, I wouldn't even be surprised if it kills it outright. Nintendo already just does their own digital presentations for ages now, Sony does their State of Play and Playstation Experience, Microsoft brought back their own shows like X0 alongside Inside Xbox, etc. At some point you have to think: what do you gain by going to E3 that you can't already do and do better through your own planned presentation which is also probably cheaper as well.

The only thing that will be missed really are the crowd reactions when some insane shit drops but we can still get those from people who watch things live anyway.

Fucking sucks. Even though I've stepped away from gaming the last few years, E3 has remained a bastion for me. End of an era?

Hope it returns next year/

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

This is Corona virus related, for those worrying it won't be back next year.

Everything is being cancelled, so we should be no difference

Rubbish anyway, good riddance.

This year is really going down to the drain, isn't it?

I mean, I get it.But this histeria for a virus that isn't even THAT dangerous.... Common cold kills more than it.Again, I get it, but it just feels like an exageration...

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

This will certainly speed up the decline of E3. I honestly don't see conventions dying out altogether, though. Everyone said physical music was dead decades ago and certain sectors are seeing big increases. Blu-ray makes up a small but dedicated portion of the movie marker, as well.

Imagine thinking that a virus that has killed people is not a cause for concern because it hasn't killed enough people.

ok...

I doubt he's saying that. Pretty sure he's saying it's overblown hype. Which it freaking IS..

Im just saying that this is being way overblown.Common diseases like the common cold is more deadly than this disease, and Corona is far more dangerous to the elderly and young kids than other people(Which I think make up for most of the dead I believe), which E3 could prohibit those categories of people from entering, not the others.

Again, I get it, just feels like an exageration.

Elderly, young kids and people with certain health issues. And even if those people were prohibited from entering, events like E3 might still spread the virus. And it's a risk for everyone.

Health should be a priority,  not some gaming, sports or music events. It sucks but it is what it is.
