Forums - Sony - Final fantasy 7 remake demo is out now!

I'd be interested in how they pull off Materia combinations too, like ALL Materia, Final Attack/Revive, Mime All, Sneak Attack & Mega All, Counter Attack (lol), 4x Cut... I could go on forever.

[Edit]

As for AI, after watching a few Youtube players play the game I do see that when switching characters quickly like to Barret for example, if you rush a move like his Focused Shot the chances are he is facing the wrong way when you switch to him, usually from repositioning to stay at a ranged distance/adjusting to enemy position. To me that's a minor gripe, and I can see this is offset quite well as when selecting ATB/Ability skills time slows down to give you a chance to look at positioning.

How many open world games do we know on UE4? Epic have shown of a lot of stuff but we havent seen any of it demonstrated in retail titles.

Of course I dont expect Pt 2 to be a seamless open world. I expect small but minimal load screens between key locations.

Going by Days gone and some other games recent UE4 open world seems to be difficult for the engine but it's very doable.

Unreal Engine are evolving , i bet this games will come to next gen consoles and so the second part of it will also be made for future hardware and engine albeit not so much different but i can see the sequel will take a lot capability of next gen hardware like fast streaming assets of SSD and faster CPU that help a lot on open world games. But of course this benefit can only be experience through next gen console or powerful PC that has SSD.

The standard combinations were the obvious Cure-All, Fire-AddedEffect, end game combinations you mentioned are going to be confusing but I cannot get my head around how this faster paced system will work with Command (Yellow) Materia. In order to learn a lot of Enemy Skill moves you had to Manipulate certain enemies from certain locals only, control them then go through their menu system to cast the ability on yourself. Big Guard and White Wind especially. How will this be done if Barret AI is constantly attacking the target? While you are trying to control them with Cloud?

Double Cut - Basically pointless. Same with Deathblow.

Steal as a command but later turns into Mug which replaced Attack, so will mashing Square constantly mug them?

Is Sense even in the game, we see enemies HP bars all the time.

W ones will work fine mind, you just get to cast twice.

Hmm, pie.

I understand what you're getting at. It's a classic case of original and modern implementations and wether or not they can be done. With regards to enemy control to gain skills I'd suspect they would have to make the AI disregard the target while it is under player influence - it could be a simple switch like changing to Barret during battle, you flick to the enemy under your control and cast/attack as per the targeting system - it could be on a timed basis like a few seconds.

Steal/Mug could be a different button, or a % chance while fighting.

Double/4x cut could be used as how many hits scored per strike or damage increase (Double damage/4x Damage depending on materia level).

Sense could be used to highlight enemy weakness and not just the health bar shown. Eg: Weak to Thunder indicator next to health bar.

Something like Hit/All I would find hard to see how it could be done... with magic yeah... but being able to hit all enimies at the same time in a dynamic battle system...hmm.

But this is all speculation. Looking at what I have seen of the game they have really done well to try and appease long term fans and new people to the game while keeping its essence alive.

The new battle system it will be very interesting to see in the Battle arena in the gold Saucer with all the handicaps.
Sense :could show the weaknesses and items that the enemy drops.
Hit All :It could do the typical anime attack where the character pauses and then executes a powerful attack that affects everyone

Sorry for my bad english.

All true and good ways around it. We know they have already changed summon (in my view in a negative way) to be closer to more modern FF games where instead of coming in, doing damage then buggering off (like they should) they are basically another party member, which to me is weird (how will Knights of the Round Work?). As a long term fan the changes made to the combat have put me off more than making me want to buy it. The characters and story are what might pull be to buy it one day but as a split up game, it won't.

Bad English? Dude, that was near perfect, don't apologise for knowing a second language. English is stupid enough language that mistakes can easily be ignored and a sentence will still make sense.

And yeah, some good ideas.

Oh yeah I forgot about summons...
I'm not a Final Fantasy 7 purist, despite the fact the PS1 was the first console I bought and I spent about 300 hours on the game. A fair bit of that was playing up to the point of beating Guard Scorpion and repeating that until I got a memory card!

That reminds me of when my brother and I rented a PS1 and FFVII (to decide if it was worth buying the console for). Of course they didn't rent us a memory card so we had to leave the console on the whole weekend to not lose our progress.

Signature goes here!

I wanted a PS4 :(

Maybe I buy a second hand one next year if the prices go down after next Sony console came out

Consoles are expensive in Brazil right?

So what device you play your games on?
