Oh and Leo-J so even if it was better on the GC graphically. What are you saying? GC>WII

I think a lot of people need glasses, or need to play the real games.

Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
I find this comparison unusual ...
Nintendo included several tracks from previous versions of the game to increase the quantity of high quality race tracks in their latest release; being that this is the first console version with online gameplay this was a very nice bonus. Being that they didn't spend time or money increasing the graphics on these tracks they look (pretty much) identical to the tracks on the Gamecube version.
In a lot of ways this comparison feels like a graphical comparison between a PS2 game running on the PS2 or one running on the PS3 through backwards compatibility; it is a little interesting and worth knowing for people who are debating replacing their PS2 or buying a PS3 with backwards compatibility, but beyond that it is pointless.
As others have pointed out, the comparison fails. The tracks look similar on purpose: they are the same tracks after all.
A better comparison would be the new tracks versus the old tracks, there you can see Mario Kart Wii looks fantastic. Screenshots don't do this game justice BTW.
Also, the Wii version has better framerate overall, uses extensive shaders on most new tracks, and runs in 16:9 widescreen. Believe me, it looks great.
and
Wait, which one do you actually think it is, and which one is the flame bait?
Though I have a hard time seeing the difference, except that the Wii version doesn't blur the track and stuff, which makes the Wii version look better (IMO), but like others have said, the tracks are suppose to be identical, so it's really not a fair comparison. I never played any Mario Kart game, and obviously I haven't played Mario Kart Wii since it's not out yet, so I can't really say whether the game actually looks better, but I'll talk Rol and others words for it that it is indeed better, and there's hardly any reason not to believe that is indeed the case. Anyone wish to post the comparison that BengaBenga suggested?
And Zen, what is the bug that exists or doesn't exist?

The wii version is the one with one mario, the GC version is the one with two marios, I think all of you or most of you managed to get it the other way around even though it clearly says what version it is.
@sc9
Yes you nailed it.

Leo-j, since you've just posted in this thread, i'm hoping you'll see the follow up post as you have purposely ignored everyone who is giving you the logical explanation to why they look identical
Are you ready? Here it is:
Because they are identical.. Nintendo did not alter the tracks for any of the GC tracks, as it is part of the classic selection.. just like the melee stages in brawl, they look bad in comparison to brawl stages, but identical to the melee version of the same stages.. if you compare the 'classic' tracks with the ones new to Mario Kart Wii.. then you will see a difference..

I'm sorry, are you trying to be funny? You don't even really address the whole thing that many have brought up about the track being the same in both version, it's a retro track, with only slight upgrades. I'm sure everyone knows which is which, it's just that without looking at the names, they're rather close to identical, though the cars look better, which is expected since they aren't ported from DD, whereas the track is.
And then you go on to say that sc9 "nailed it" which I assume is referring to him saying "GC>Wii," which is about as laughable as your "high" 33 million prediction for the end of the year for the Wii. Unless you're simply referring to Mario Kart DD being better graphically than Mario Kart Wii, then it's still laughable because not only are you only looking at one video comparison, but you're looking at a video that wasn't intended to compare graphics, since the video was made to compare power slides.
So please, just stop.
MK:Wii was blurrier to me. For some reason watching MK:Wii in that video, really hurt my eyes.
