I juts got back in from my regular run on the trails.

The Corona effect: Normally I see about 1 or 2 people in total on a Friday, today 4 motocross bikes, 12 quad bikes, about 16 people walking, 9 dogs. Good job Canada, closing the parks, fields and GRCA trails, bringing people closer together on what's left! I even crossed the river to get to the always deserted empty side (wading through, water still freezing but not up much further than my knees) but there were just as many cross bikes and quad bikes on that side. (They can easily cross the river as well of course)

I did also see up to 20 deer, couple very large birds of prey and thousands of toads. Or rather heard them chirping in all the melting the ponds when the quad bikes were silent for a bit. At least people were not walking in large groups anymore and staying away from others. I know that forest like the back of my hand so stayed on the smaller trails and game trails, no problem avoiding people so far. But damn, go out for some relaxation, nearly half the time nothing but echoing screams of quad bike engines. Cheap gas effect I guess.

This is in a small town, what do people in large cities do?

Go to the parks.

1605 now in Luxembourg, probably the highest amount per capita in any country. On the other hand, with 14k people tested (about 2.3% of the population), we also have the highest amount of the population tested compared to other countries.
15 deaths, one of them being a patient flown in from France since we still have free hospital beds and ICUs.

Ideally stay at home, as everyone should for non essential activities.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Go to the parks.

Those are closed. Still open in the US?

Even though they are closed, people still go there to walk their dogs but I hardly see anyone playing there anymore. I live across from a park that's always quite busy and around this time of year baseball and soccer practice starts. That obviously won't happen, but the playground and basketball court have been empty for the last week as well. The most activity today was FD flushing out the fire hydrant and 2 workers picking up left over trash.

Meanwhile Ontario has fewer new cases detected than yesterday but only managed to clear about 1,000 tests from their 11K pending. They did administer another 3,000 tests so I guess they can get results for about 4,000 a day. 135 positive out of 4,000 tests.

Nah, you should be getting excecise and sun, keep your immune system up to help the health services. If ya can't get a walk, at least get sun on a roof or balcony, it's a mood boost too so when shit gets tough at least we'll be cheery. Thank god for the coming summer.

Exactly, last thing we need is people getting cabin fever, vitamin D deficiencies and nothing to do but look at the news reports from all over the world spelling doom and gloom. Walking isn't dangerous, just stay apart, don't stop for a chat etc. Don't touch things, wash your hands.

Of course there are idiots here as well. In the street my parents in law live in they're having a quarantine party....

Run an entire Marathon on their balcony: https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/23/world/balcony-marathon-trnd/index.html

We have the "chain of lakes" in Minneapolis which is 6 or so lakes all about 3 miles around each, all within a very short distance of each other and they are just packed.  Shelter in place goes into effect today at midnight, and our Mayor had a conference today saying there are too many people on the lakes running and walking.  They are going to be closing a bunch of the parkway and streets to traffic in Minneapolis to open up more room for people to jog and walk.

Damn, some quick calculations, 3000 times running back and forth on a 7 meter long balcony. That must hurt a lot after 6 hours.

Soap works too.

Apparently the Virus might have already been in the US at the end of February in New Orleans during Mardi Gras... hundred of thousands of people in close quarters...

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Any chance the US see's 20,000+ newly confirmed cases today? (currently at around 17k)
