I don't think people realize how big of a lead Switch has over PS4 in America...

Europe is getting balanced out by the US, while RoW is getting balanced out by Japan.

Speaking of RoW, the Switch is doing quite well there, too. While it probably will fall short of the PS4, it will certainly beat the DS there as bestselling Nintendo console, having already sold almost 2/3 of the DS sales in that region.

Launches aligned the difference is 1.5m, even if we consider switch released in march (I think) the gap is not big at all. PS4 destroys in europe way harder than that. Some people also underestimate for how long PS systems sell, I doubt switch will have the same longevity like most of their consoles.

The comparation now stop right after PS4 had another holiday, yet even with that advantage Switch is beating it by a good margin.
This holiday for example, so in like 6 months, the gap will be as big as 5/6 million. Switch will probabily beat PS4 by around 10 million in USA and around 20 million in Japan, that's a total of 30 million in those 2 markets. (and there are other market as well where Switch sells more, the rest of America for example, France, China are a few examples)

And we'll see about legs, Switch has already shown that has a different sales trend than the past Nintendo consoles.

The thing is this post isn't even as silly as the fictional 1st and 2nd generations of consoles that just got added behind the 8-bit gen with no logic or historical rationale.

First party games for Switch in the first half of 2020: Brain Training, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Animal Crossing, Xenoblade Chronicles, Clubhouse Games, Picross S4, Good Job.

There might be something I've missed for Switch. Either way, Nintendo released at least four games during the unknown good three month stretch after Animal Crossing. Lesson learned: No announced games doesn't mean no games in development or no games close to release.

Will Switch even have enough system sellers to do that? Almost everything in this "E3" is being announced for PS5, PS4, XSX, X1 or PC.

2025 is my current guesstimate as thats when I have Switch crossing 130m and that is also where I have PS4 stalling.

This is assuming we get the Switch successor in 2023 and not earlier though.

Switch is definitely going to beat PS4 in America as well though. Europe is really the only area it won't stand a chance but I don't think that will be enough to keep PS4 ahead.
