Well that is all cleared up. In the short term, this is not going to slow down the PS5 at all because Sony has not made any mistakes and the PS5 is still a beast of a system. What this does do is put a stake in the ground for MS, letting everyone know they mean business and that Gamepass is the value that will keep on giving. In the short term, this should help up some subs, in the long term once the big hitters start to fall, it should definitely increase Gamepass and even keep the Xbox hardware in the running. Should be interesting t see Starfield hit, be full exclusive and also a AAA beast (Hopfully). That would definitely give some big juice to MS ecosystem.

Sounds like MS changed direction for the March gaming event. Hopefully we get some Starfeild and Halo gameplay.

Lol slow down, we definitely won't be seeing those games until Summer.

He updated the article, it originally said "will" and now it says "may" so he doesn't know, I'm 99% sure it's just going to be a xCloud event (when xCloud will come to PCs, TVs, iOS, upgrades to xCloud, etc).

We need a Greenberg tweet to set expectations because when I hear gaming event I’d expect some big games to be shown.

FFS He updated it again.

We've heard that the show may offer a glimpse at some upcoming Xbox games for 2021, and possibly beyond.

So they have heard something...

JEZ STOP.

Okay that wording means there has to be some big hitters. It would make sense to have the monthly Halo info there with a nice new trailer. As for beyond maybe forza or an update on state of decay 3?

Watching the entire Roundtable, it’s very interesting to see Phil mention the Future of ID Tech Engine at Xbox.

I think that it’s very possible that some XGS studios could use it for future titles.

So Bethesda Game Studios is confirmed to be 420 staff across all 4 locations, surprisingly small and crazy to think that 343 as a whole is bigger.

Also Alpha Dog and BGS Dallas will likely continue to focus on mobile games.

Yeah, they definitely have some staffing up to do. We really need TES 6 sooner than 2025 and Fallout 5 sooner than 2029, lol. 37 open positions at BGS currently, but even when they fill them all that will not be enough, would only bump them up to like 460 devs, and of those 460 like 100 will be on Fallout 76 ongoing development at BGS Austin, about 50 on mobile games at BGS Dallas, and about 120 at BGS Montreal on whatever they are working on (some reports that they are working on a AAA game independently from all other BGS studios), leaving only 190 or so at the main studio in Maryland, definitely not enough to have teams doing full development on 2 of their 3 IP's at once (Starfield, TES, and Fallout), which they really need to be able to do. Hopefully BGS Montreal is actually assisting them with Starfield and TES 6 instead of doing their own thing.

I think that it’s confirmed that BGS Montreal is helping on Starfield based on job descriptions, my hope that they expand to a point that they could have 4 teams capable of developing AAA games with the Two main teams at Maryland and then Austin and Montreal.

Bit of an odd month on this studio size update. Quite alot of studios lost devs, most notably 343 which seems to have had a pretty big culling. Meanwhile, between the 343 layoffs and continued big growth at Mojang, Mojang has finally passed MS to become the largest 1st party studio. Ninja Theory saw a big spike in open positions which suggests they are planning to ramp up development on Project Mara and Hellblade 2 soon, or are possibly starting a new team. Machine also has a good number of open positions now, suggesting they are planning on staffing up their Indiana Jones team soon. Double Fine has continued their slow expansion, which is good because they were stuck at 75 devs for like a half a year.

Compulsion growth is good to watch it's not long since they were at 40 and I was thinking they have grown a lot and now they are creeping toward 70 staff especially when you consider We Happy Few development was mostly done with 10-12 staff before they went up to 25 for it near the end of development it's a big growth for their next game.

Well I was certainly wrong, and we did get clarification on exclusivity much soon than I thought. I love that Xbox just dropped 20 games today instead of spacing them out. Now I need to wait for Evil Within 2 to eventually hit Game Pass.

Very possible that some studios take ID Tech and customize it to their preference like the Void and Stem engines.
