Can't stop playing Divinity: Original Sin 2. Fantastic game.
Accumulated 30 hours of in-game playtime since I bought it 6 days ago (5 hours a day on average).

I really loved the first one but I had to stop playing it because I don't know what I'm supposed to do or where I'm supposed to go. I had to visit a website and read about every other mission to be able to continue. I grew tired of it and stopped playing.

Did they improve on that regard?

it's just a shame because with inXile becoming first party I was hoping they wouldn't be releasing any games with problems like these anymore. i'm hesitant to really blame them too much because we know COVID had an impact on development and they already had to delay once for it, but I just thought that this was the type of stuff that should have been ironed out as a result of that deal, itt's not like they have budget or time constraints anymore to the degree they used to.

Actually they do. This is a Deep Silver funded game let’s remind ourselves and InXile is still a small studio, with multiple projects being worked on at once.

yes and no; while inXile are still quite a small studio that does work on multiple things, in Wasteland 3's particular case they have gone on record saying that Microsoft's acquisition allowed more funding and time for things that would have never been in the game otherwise such as full VO work for all the dialogue in the game and more, despite the game still being published by Deep Silver

hell, it was originally delayed from 2019 to 2020 in the first place because of how Microsoft acquired them, which allowed them to hire more staff and give the game more time

I'm not sure how to answer this question, as I can't say I experienced anything remotely similar playing either game. That said, the way missions are laid out, and tracked didn't really change from 1 to 2, so.....no?

I really liked the first one but for some reason I don't remember too much about it. However, I do remember getting stuck a few times. I also remember that the teleporting pyramid was an insanely useful item that got me to progress many times. The pyramids are in the sequel as well but I didn't have to use them once thus far.

Though in case of the sequel, I can tell you that there are multiple ways to finish a main quest.

For example, the first part of the first chapter (right after the tutorial) is set in a fort and you have to escape it. It's actually pretty insane how many ways there are and I'm sure I haven't even discovered all of them (I discovered around 7 different ways to escape). So getting to a point where you become stuck is very unlikely. Just do another side quest and it will reveal new possibilities that will help you complete your main task.

The game also has some story markers on the map but they only point in the general area of interest. There are definitely a few side quests I couldn't complete (not that I tried very hard) but it shouldn't come as a surprise that these don't offer as many ways to complete as the main quests.

So many games to play using Gamepass this past month... On top of the usual shitloads there already is.

I'm playing tell me why. It's pretty good so far. Quite the tell-tale clone with a twist. Voice acting is pretty good so far as is the art style.

I also read Wasteland 3 is full of bugs and frequently crashes. I'm going to wait until it's patched.

edit. Hmmm should probably play Divinity Original Sin 2 first then. Barozi & Angelus haven't been full of shit with their recommendations lately.

edit vol2. Completion estimate 200+ hours hnnngghh ..

Lately??? *angryface*

You need two playthroughs for 100% (I think there's only achievement you can't get on the run depending on your main character).

Other than that the game isn't quite 200+ hours. You could easily spend that much if you look for every single little side quest but I'd say 50 hours is enough for one playthrough. I'm 30 hours in and just started the fifth of six chapters. A quick glance at the walkthrough tells me that those two chapters aren't even that long. To be fair, if you're playing on the highest difficulty you will probably reload your quicksaves over and over again, so it might take quite a bit longer than 50 hours.

There are a lot of few missable achievements but mostly related to side missions so even if you locked yourself out of one, you could easily load a save at the beginning of a chapter and go straight to that point and complete it. It kinda sucks that there are only 10 save files you can create (on top of 3 different quick and auto saves), so I'm only keeping one save at the end of each chapter in case I missed something important (Hasn't happened thus far).

It gave the game more time but no enough for some Q&C for this massive project. Wasteland 3 is their biggest project yet.

Possible that Deep Silver wasn't willing to allow another delay, Microsoft needs a better QA team or both.

I would imagine that Deep Silver probably just wanted the game out at this point. Not many developers are all that willing to delay games more than once, and especially given the economic conditions in 2020, they'll be looking for their paydays where they can get them.

You also have to factor in, if it did get delayed again, it would have slid into a much more crowded part of the year, and Deep Silver would know that's no good for business either.

Unlock your weapon skins and level up your character months or a year before the game comes out.  Drink Monster energy and get that head start. LOL.
