Overall Completion Challenge

Duration: Till Series X Comes Out - Possibly End of 2020, cause fuck 2020.

Objective: To increase overall completion percentage in games. To go from 63% --> 70%

I've noticed since Game pass and even before that when I played Xbox casually that I have a lot of games on my profile with very low percentage. Some games I just played and gave up without giving much of a chance. Others I genuinely did not like. So my goal is to go back and clean up my scores to increase my overall percentage in games.

According to TA, here are some of the games I will be playing.

Feel free to anyone else who wants to participate. Tag your original % and your goal percentage. And let's up them bitches together!

I may participate I'd probably shoot for 50% completion percentage though. Don't think anything higher is realistic at this point

Yeah my percentage isn't even 63% it's 54. BIG OOOOOF. I was using the wrong numbers. Imma try though... Road to 70%.

The coalition accidentaly leaked the next batch of characters coming up mid operation...Well Sraak was known but Sam and Minh not :o

Hmm I've played with and against SASxSH4DOWZ many times across Gears games.. why would he have access to new characters?

He's pretty good btw.

He is a xbox live friend of mine, but those characters accidentaly made it in the store....Already dissapeared btw.  They should launch in a week of three (mid operation with possible a new map).

Pretty weak Gamescom lineup.

I mean it’s good Age Of Empires 3 getting the spotlight. However the trend on Twitter is PS fanboys trashing Xbox fans for too many games being on PC and not Xbox consoles. Gears Tactics, now Flight Sim and this would just add fuel.

Announcing release dates or at least a quarter of the year for their console ports would go a long way to boost Xbox morale.

Was looking through the latest round of hires at the Initiative. The talent they hire is just on another level compared to Microsoft's other AAA teams like Playground's Fable team.

This latest batch has:

  • The director of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, so they now have the directors of both Tomb Raider 2013 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider at the studio (Tomb Raider 2013 director is the studio head)
  • The lead writer on Destiny 1's DLC and Destiny 2, and before that Star Trek Online for it's first 5 years.
  • The senior hero designer on Jedi Fallen Order and senior combat designer on Mass Effect Andromeda
  • Senior designer on several Sledgehammer CoD games, Crystal Dynamics's Avengers, and Pandemic's Star Wars Battlefront games
  • AI programmer on RDR2 and GTA V at Rockstar and TLOU 2 at Naughty Dog
  • Senior technical artist from the film industry, he worked at Dreamworks animation and LucasFilm's ILM on CGI graphics
  • UI guy from Playground's racing team
  • Animator who worked at naughty dog on Uncharted 4, Uncharted Lost Legacy, and TLOU 2, as well as at DICE LA on one of the Battlefield games.
  • Environment artist from Insomniac who worked on Spider-man and Sunset Overdrive
  • Producer from Treyarch on multiple CoD games
  • Game Designer from Insomniac
  • An animation veteran who started in the early 2000's doing games like Star Wars Galaxies and the original Pandemic Star Wars Battlefrotn games, then switched to the film industry doing animation for multiple popular movies and tv shows.

Too many seniors and highly paid guy. Either they are a base of a huge team, 800+ employees, which I doubt, or they are creating 3-4 small teams to lead development with other 2nd party studios. Back to the "small and agile" description. It would nice if we see something like 3 AAA games every 5 years from them.

Why are people still using the 2nd party term?
It doesn’t make sense. A game/studio is either 1st party or 3rd party. There can be exclusive 3rd party deals but it would never be 2nd party in legal terms.

Also, if The Initiative is forming multiple teams with star devs to make games with support of bigger studios, we’re in for a treat. There’s really no need to staff up a studio, if you have all the senior leadership already and can delegate the heavy lifting to studios like Sumo Digital.

Man I just realized that 343i and Bungie has worked on the Halo franchise for roughly the same amount of time (13 years-ish) and when you compare the output... not a good look for 343. The newcomers excuse has to be thrown out, if Infinite doesn’t deliver should MS take action? Lol I hope it does deliver and I’m not trying to be negative but damn. Time just put so many things in perspective.

343 has most definitely dropped the ball with Halo and regardless of how Infinite turns out, they should be combed through and reorganized by Microsoft.

I mean there's no doubt that their Halo games haven't been as good, or at least well rounded lets say, because I do actually think that Halo 4 and 5 both excelled in certain areas, but 13 years now also aren't nearly the same as 13 years when Bungie had the franchise. Game development on these big titles takes a hell of a lot longer than it used to.

All that said, yes, 343 absolutely need a home run with Infinite. Anything less than a complete Halo game, with all that entails, will be a failure, and one they can't really afford.

Ya the problem is definitely not a talent one but a managerial one. Frustrating that the problem is entirely preventable.
