The reason Microsoft created or took over Mixer was to compete with Amazon on the cloud space. I doubt they even thought about Xbox when they drew their plans. It just happened to be managed by Xbox division because it is a service about streaming games. Saying something like Xbox didn't lose anything to Sony is a wrong way to think about it. They lost bug time against Amazon and Google, and I'm not talking about Stadia and whatever Amazon comes up with. Amazon and Google are in the gaming space to gain market share in the cloud space. For these three companies, cloud business is way bigger than gaming and gaming is merely a tool to drive their cloud business forward.
I'm sure Phil is happy that a burden he didn't want is off his shoulder now.

I think it is a good thing. Partnering to Facebook gaming (instead of Twitch) is the right thing to do. If you look at last year:
Facebook gaming is really taking off and will be the best platform (to compete with Amazon).
They will also use it as a good advertising platform for XCloud/GamePass.
Someone created but said a lot of ridiculous things in it making this sounds so bad when it is not (like saying that you will need a Facebook account to play GamePass/XCloud which is completly unrelated...). I responded to the thread but I should never do that, on this website everything out of this thread is just bait and flaming toward Microsoft. (Here)
Anyway, this is great. Mixer was nice but it was just not working as well as expected.
I’m also told Instagram will be affected too. Using that as a medium to promote Xcloud is gonna be huge
Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
See i never owned a Microsoft console but the discussion in this thread is kinda wholesome to follow,just mostly fans being excited and friendly.

apple is a big "friend" to make in that regard their hardware fully supporting gamepass etc would be a huge boost
