Forget about him. I would literally spend a thousand bucks on that a Series X with that design lol

That controller is fire. Xbox Pope designs the best custom Xboxes and he’s cool with Phil.
I wish the division makes more custom boxes this gen.

I just need them to make a really cool Halo one for launch, cus I'm not in the business of buying extra consoles just cus they look cool (tempting as it is sometimes). Once I've already got a system, it no longer particularly helps me when they design cool LEs later on lol

lol so Cities Skylines is coming back after a short absence. weird.

btw. the Green Cities DLC is supposed to be free for a limited time. It's not live on Xbox atm but elsewhere so it shouldn't take too long.

Platinum denied the rumours that Microsoft even attempted to acquire them but don't get your hopes up cause they basically said they wouldn't sell to Microsoft anyway.

-

“I did read some rumours about Xbox wanting to purchase PlatinumGames, and I thought, ‘people on the internet write the craziest stuff’, because that conversation has not come to our doorstep at all,” he said.

“We’ve not had any talks like that, but I think even if it was a possibility, we’re now going into more independent self-publishing.

“It’s not that we’re disinterested in Microsoft, but if the relationship were to be us working under their direction, I feel like that would be the opposite of what we’re trying to do now and limit our possibilities. Any opportunities that would limit our freedom I think we would be against.”

Designer Hideki Kamiya, whose game Scalebound was signed by Xbox and later cancelled, joked: “Maybe somebody reminded them that I’m still at the studio, and they were like, ‘right then, forget that! We’re not going to acquire them!’”

-

Asked how Xbox could improve its position in Japan, Bayonetta designer Kamiya said he felt Microsoft “could do more to market towards actual Japanese gamers’ tastes” for their console.

“I would say that ever since the Xbox has been introduced to the Japanese market it’s always felt like something foreign and far away. It doesn’t feel like it’s ever been cultivated for Japanese tastes,” he said.

“It reminds me of the NES and Super NES days when I had to go to these really niche game stores to get foreign games you could only get through import. They weren’t localised to Japan or anything, they were just imports that you were kind of buying just to have this rare token as a gamer.”

Inaba added: “I agree with the foreign feeling nature of the hardware, but I also admire that Phil wants to try hard in Japan. I would love to give him some advice, but I also feel that the success route into Japan has not always been about having the best hardware.

“Sometimes it’s about familiarity. The biggest exception is the iPhone, but that was able to break in because it just took the world over – and it’s not easy to make something of that momentum every day. It’s a tough question that I don’t know the answer to.”

It's quite interesting as it is probably the first time when Brad Sams was caught making up stuff as he was the one to report about MS trying to acquire Platinum but this interview shows that it wasn't even happening.

Ummm, are you ok Xbox? Need some help over there?

Nvm, I though it was for limited console. But it's actually a game. Even worse

Glad Sea of Thieves will get even more popular with Steam.

This is a simple format, but I like it. The transition between games and having the developers talk about the game over gameplay is great. If anything have a short intro and outro by Phil Spencer for future Inside Xbox, but have the rest set up like this ID@Xbox video. Maybe if they want show a trailer for a game THEN have the developer talking over some gameplay.

Should be like that for July, Phil does an introduction on hopefully a decent camera (Goddamnit Phil upgrade your kit) then a globe opens listing the studio locations and it zooms in on the studios location, Playground introduction with the lead, then the trailer, if there's gameplay hide the persons face and just have them speak over key parts, them done, zoom back out, onto the next location.

They should tease studio locations at the start, unrevealed acquisitions, then midway through it goes to Matt Booty who reveals more acquisitions, if they have any.

We only need to see Phil, Matt and a couple studio leads, I hope they don't do any back and forth talking on their shitty mics.

Be like the Street Fighter II screen

This is just MS' way of asking us all to pitch in for them buying CDPR, and I'm totally here for it. Pre-ordering now.

Matches with that one Motorsport 8 leak from Reddit I believe. He said that Motorsport 8 was a reboot on a new next-gen build of ForzaTech releasing this Holiday. Things he mentioned as I recall included a more detailed story mode, pit stops, rally tracks with a new off-road traction simulation system, higher quality car models and tracks instead of reusing Motorsport 7 car and track assets, new tire pressure and road temperature simulation systems, and a new cloud/sky and weather simulation system.

Same leaker was the one who said that The Initiative's game is a Perfect Dark reboot set in a shared world planned for release in 2021 or 2022, with development assistance from The Coalition and some reused ideas and systems from their cancelled spy game, from back when The Coalition was called Black Tusk before MS bought the gears IP.

He also said MS had 2 more studio acquisitions to announce this summer, one in Poland and one in Japan.

I’m aware Phil went shopping in those regions but I heard nothing of any fruit coming from it. Techland saying no to rumours and all. Hoping the Japan efforts come through, still holding out on something big there
