The AoE 2 DE esports is having its own World Finals and currently has 30k viewers on Twitch. Not bad for a game that’s 23 years old lol

I can't find this on Twich. What channel is it on?

Sorry, it was on the Redbull Twitch channel. If you go to the channel, you can see a re-run of the tournament! I follow the AoE Twitter account to keep up with the esports.

It was also on my YouTube feed a few hours before you made that first post. I didn't click on it so I have no clue if that was just a pre show or if it already started. It had about 5k viewers.

Yeah that was the finals. Typically live gaming viewership will always be higher on Twitch than YouTube. I’ll let everyone know the next tournament that happens if any are interested in tuning in!

Around 29 hours in and I just beat the third palace in P5R. Going in blind and was the first time it challenged me ^^'.

They are without a doubt the worst/dumbest publisher out there, selling your western studios and IP for chump change and taking Money-hats for your biggest flagship franchise and AAA Titles to Sony and you wonder why you are failing. Even on their 3rd Party publishing side they produce massive flops like Still Alive, Balan WonderWorld, Babylons Fall, Star Ocean 5, and Valkyrie Elysium.

There is a real possibility that Forspoken bombs and if it does it will end up being and expensive failure and that game is more western focused too.

Lmao, indeed it is. Whoever is giving the orders at Square Enix must live in a cave and come out once every decade to make decisions for the company

They are totally clueless.

Square Enix exec #1: "Japan can no longer sustain us, we need to broaden our appeal with new audiences, especially in the west"

Square Enix exec #2: "Sounds like a plan to me"

Square Enix exec #3: "So how about we sell exclusivity on most of our franchises to either Sony or Nintendo simply because their consoles sell the best in Japan"

Square Enix exec #1 and 2: "Great idea, that surely won't limit our potential audience but instead will grow it! Genius!"

Square Enix exec #3: "And we should sell all of our western studios and IP's to Embracer Group for less than 1/4th of what Embracer paid for Gearbox and some dormant Gearbox IP's, and barely more than Sony paid for Insomniac, a single IP-less studio"

Square Enix exec #1 and 2: "Great idea. Selling our western division for peanuts and making only Japanese market centric game will surely broaden our appeal in the west!"

If you want global appeal to make a profit, you need to release on as many platforms as possible, that means PC, PS5, and Xbox Series for your high end graphics AAA games, and those 3 plus Switch for your lower end games that can actually run on Switch. Exclusivity deals are the worst way to grow your audience in the west. And if they knew they needed to grow their appeal in the west to survive, selling their entire western division for peanuts was an awful idea.
