Yeah, sadly I think it's too little too late for Halo Infinite, that roadmap is incredibly disappointing and Waypoint, Reddit, etc., all seem to agree on that. Halo Infinite has suffered massive player dropoff since release, Steam has fallen from 269k peak concurrent players at release to just 12k peak concurrent players now (Halo MCC had more peak concurrent players on steam back in November than F2P Halo Infinite has now), on the Xbox US most played list it has fallen from #1 on release to #8 now, on the UK Xbox most played list it has fallen all the way to #18. More players will be lost over the next 2 months leading up to season 2, and I don't think that 1 new arena map and 1 new BTB map plus a few new playlists are going to be enough to win very many players back.

Meanwhile, there is still lots of work to be done fixing the microtransaction model, they are still focusing way too heavily on paid cosmetics. designing literally hundreds of them for each season, and the pricing, though it has improved some since release, is nowhere near what it needs to be to be considered fair pricing. Right now cosmetic development should be taking a backseat to map development, because maps are the thing that Halo Infinite needs most right now to win back players and keep them.

I think we can all say now that Halo Infinite was not even close to being ready for release, it should have been delayed to Holiday 2022, with more beta tests throughout 2021 and 2022 to prepare for launch. That would have given them enough time to get campaign co-op, forge, dynamic weather, ray-tracing, etc ready for launch, as well as enough time to design more maps both for launch and to have more than 0 maps for season 1 and more than 2 maps for season 2. That early launch is going to cost them, first impressions matter, it is hard to win back players that you have already lost.

No, it's not. I know doom and gloom is very popular with the Halo community, and it's warranted for the most part, but the game will eventually be in a good spot and have a resurgence. There have been games in WAY worse situations and recovered/thrived. The problem for Halo is the pace of getting new content. Season 1 has been way too long, but once they get on track with 3-month seasons, it won't feel that way. I pretty much stopped playing, but once season 2 hits I'll be back on it, and I won't be the only one.

Finished Dishonored: Death of the Outsider.

More of the same but plays a bit differently due to other powers. There's not as much content as in Dishonored 2 but I think it wasn't a full priced title so it's alright. However, I was a little disappointed that part of a level that you already played in mission 2 is already recycled in mission 3. Mission 4 is also set in the same place that you already know from Dishonored 2.

In contrast to Dishonored 2, this game got the FPS boost enhancement. Unfortunately, activating it means that you can kiss 4k resolution and other Xbox One X enhancements goodbye. The game must have a good AA solution though as objects in close proximity are still very sharp, yet the low resolution is definitely noticeable for objects in the background.

343 got the game out, what more do you want god .... I swear you shits are an entitled bunch.

DICE got Battelfield 2042 out. How’d that go?

The biggest problem 343 got themselves into what was releasing the game as a live service game. A game like Halo was never designed with that type of business model, because it’s a community driven franchise. Now, if Infinite released with everything Halo 5 had and built on top of it, then there would be no complaints. What’s the point of making a sequel if it’s only going to have less of literally everything than previous installments and adding those legacy modes and maps that are supposed to be there by default as “new content”?

I hope Halo Infinite season 2 has more than 2 maps. That is the bare minimum they could offer. It does sound like they might be holding back and only wanted to announce the two new maps and held back the announcement of a remake map or two. 3 maps would be serviceable, 4 would be ideal.

Halo Infinite's lead multiplayer designer has announced his departure from 343 Industries.

Andrew Witts had joined the developer in 2019, overseeing the development of Halo Infinite's free multiplayer mode. In a short but sweet tweet, Witts thanked fans and 343 for his three years spent with the company. "It's been an honor leading the MP design team over these years," he wrote. "Thank you to all Halo fans for your feedback over the years. We made this game for you." Witts didn't announce where he was off to next but said he was "going to take some time off to relax and recharge" first.

It marks yet another exit for one of Halo Infinite's senior developers. Earlier this year saw the game's lead narrative designer Aaron Linde leave for Riot Games, while creative director Tim Longo and project director Chris Lee stepped down from their roles in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Xbox boss Phil Spencer assured fans in 2020 that turnover was a natural part of development, saying "as an industry, we're always going to see turnover. I don't have any specific concern about 343. I think in the long run, turnover is a healthy thing because we want people who are really motivated by the things that they're working on."

It was known about for a while along with the RedFall trademark before the game was announced.

Interesting. What have the rumors been saying regarding what Bethesda studio is working on it and what kind of game it may be?
