Yeah could also be with the new administration, maybe MS has a feeling they are going to do something sooner than later and start to crack down. Get this done and over with to avoid some of that mess.

I'm really not surprised by any of this and always expected CoD to stay multiplatform. Kind of strange seeing so many upset and/or surprised by this. As far other "popular IP's" go, it's vague for a reason, and likely due to them not knowing the full extent of what will be exclusive or multiplatform atm. There is also a very real possibility Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 release before the acquisition is complete so those would release on ps5 anyways. Other stuff like Blizzard's survival game and RPG will probably be Xbox, PC, and cloud since those are new game games and don't fall under "Popular IP's."

Midterms are coming up and it's a fairly popular position right now to be harder on big tech, some like Facebook deserve it but Microsoft has a chance of being caught in the crossfire, so yeah, Microsoft probably wants this out the way ASAP and they're doing everything they can do pass it quickly whilst keeping FTC happy, if anything these moves may make it easier for them to acquire additional companies in the future with how open they're being about everything and all this "yeah, we agree with the FTC, we're doing everything they want" Lol.

I have no idea how this works, if they approve it, does that mean it's a done deal? Like they approve the 30 days thing and it's over? Surely can't be that easy. Bethesda took 6 months and a tenth of the cost.

Sounds like Microsoft is going to do a multi-year deal with Sony just to release CoD on Playstation and multiyear assumes it will end every few years or so which gives them leverage, they'll definitely dump the "can't release on Game Pass" clause if there's one in there and I would be very surprised if they don't negotiate away that stuff about Sony taking a compensation from developers.

Extending the existing deal meaning what they continue to get exclusive content and marketing on CoD?

Yeah Xbox and Sony have likely fulfilled orders all the way to 2026 for a set amount, Idk how many other suppliers there are though.

On the plus side, no mid-gen refresh anytime soon, this will likely be the longest gen ever, Lol.

But it just sucks could they could both be selling a lot more right now and it will be a lot more exciting.

Series S was such a smart move in almost an accidental way, the pandemic is benefiting it so much, Lol. 

Yeah Series S worked out for them. They can produce 2 Series S consoles with the amount needed for 1. Since Xbox has sold 12m and like it's about 50/50 Series X and S if there was no Series S the most MS would be able to make is about 9m.
