I mean, you're probably right on account of gaming...."journalists" being mostly shit, but if they really hold it against a studio for rolling an important console launch game out in stages, due to a global pandemic affecting work....well then they're really just cementing how unprofessional they really are. I would be perfectly happy if I can play the Halo Infinite campaign this holiday on Series X, but then have to wait maybe another couple of months to play the MP.

But they can delay it, they can delay Series X, they have the perfect 'excuse' for a delay too, if this virus goes on much longer it's not like people will be in a good financial position to be splashing on expensive hardware anyway, I kinda hate that Infinite's fate is tied to Series X.
It's also not going to be good for first impressions, Halo is not the FPS it once was and 343 has already suffered multiple setbacks, the competition now is tougher and if 343 doesn't get certain folk in, they'll quickly move onto the next major FPS title.
If I'm being honest I don't really care much about Halo's MP nowadays, I'm mostly a campaign/story person but on a "wanting Halo to be a success cause it's my favourite franchise" level, I'd be annoyed if the content was split into parts. I do like Firefight though but I don't expect that on launch, I would expect Campaign, Multiplayer, Forge.
Multiplayer needs a mix of Casual/Competitive, BTB this time, most people didn't seem to like the Forge maps or Remixes and want actual built from the ground up maps that feel unique. I do enjoy the casual game modes still like KotH, Oddball, Infection, etc. but Halo 5 had a crazy focus on E-Sports and basically ignored all those casual game modes which kinda alienates a portion of Halo's traditional fanbase, I fear they'll do that again with Infinite if they refuse to delay.
Edit - I would blame the person who refused to delay though, not 343 as a whole, obviously with Coronavirus affecting workflow it's not their fault. So I wouldn't blame the developers as a whole but upper management.
