Started The Forgotten City last night after it dropped on Game Pass. Liking it quite a bit so far. I was pretty disappointed in 12 Minutes so hopefully this one will be a more impressive time-loop based game.

Yeah it looks super dated, but I do have a soft spot for Star Ocean despite the games being less than stellar. Tri-Ace is actually a dev I would love for MS to buy so they can escape the obvious low budgets they've been given.

Tri-Ace got bought by Nepro Japan a mobile company in 2015. They were none of my wishlist targets for MS but it’s unlikely to happen now.

Not fully convinced about the new Star Ocean but I'm satisfied that we're getting it.
The characters have a totally outdated design and the framerate issues were noticeable. World looked a bit empty as well.

VERY impressive!!! It shows that there is very much still a market for RTS games. And this is a full priced $60 game on Steam. I'm loving this renaissance of AoE! I won't be able to play it till Saturday, but I'm excited! Age of Mythology: Definitive Edition next please :)

Just for reference, AoE 2DE hasn't dropped below 10,000 concurrent players on Steam for a single moment since it launched 2 years ago! And that's including AoE 4's launch today. I checked a few minutes ago and it was 16,000 players, so PC gamers are hungry for this franchise! Console gamers too if the developers can work out a good control scheme similar to Halo Wars 1&2. As well as adding keyboard & mouse support for console.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Star Ocean doesn't look too good from it's first showing, not convinced on day one buy. But Square Enix game coming to Xbox is Square Enix game coming to Xbox - really nice and somewhat unexpected thing.

The sad fact of the matter is, we probably already know about 80-85% of the Xbox 1st and 2nd party games that will be releasing in the next 4 or 5 years. The chances of MS surprising us with some 2nd party JP exclusives or some big AAA 2nd party singleplayer exclusives at this point is looking very slim unfortunately. We are more likely to be surprised by 3rd party exclusives, like the recently rumored big AAA Xbox 3rd party exclusive by the reliable Sony leaker. I just hope that since the 2nd party division has dropped the ball on JP exclusives, that the 3rd party division doesn't drop the ball and moneyhats us a few JP 3rd party timed exclusives at least.

Just like I've already been saying here, but IMO you are setting yourself for some unrealistic expectations and then get disappointed in the end. Why would you even expect Japanese developers to work on Xbox exclusive at this point at all. If we look realistically at this scenario - it would be a suicide for any Japanese developer to work on an Xbox exclusive. They will lose around 80-90% of potential game audience. No matter how much money Microsoft can throw at them, I doubt anyone would agree, because the game will flop and it will result in ton of time wasted on an IP which will fail to take off. I think these rumours about Microsoft partnering with Western devs to make Japanese-like games are the signal that Microsoft couldn't come to agreement with any Japanese dev, so they have to use Western devs to cover this niche. Yes, I agree with anyone who thinks it won't work, but let's just wait and see.

Ryu: Damn....that was a whole lot of post right there. I'll see about trimming it down

Also Ryu 2 seconds later: Lemme just start reposting sections of that massive text so we can all look at it multiple times
