I was more interested in the Twitter comments...outside of Vgchartz the internet is convinced the Series X had a sizeable performance lead on PS5 and the ssd talk is just hot air more or less.

It's amazing the lengths that some people will go to try and make Sony look good. Seems like so many of the gaming sites are buying into this PS5 secret-sauce rumor and trying to prop up PS5 as being closer to XSX than it actually is. I legit saw an article yesterday, on a gaming site, where they tried to claim that the Xbox Series X actually has less tflops usable for graphics than PS5, because the XSX doesn't have a dedicated audio chipset and 20% of GPU resources will need to be wasted on audio processing *faceplam*. That is wrong on 2 levels, 1. XSX does have a dedicated audio chipset and audio developers are praising that decision, and 2. even if XSX didn't have a dedicated audio chipset, audio would run off the CPU, not the GPU.

Thankfully, the tech sites, unlike the gaming sites, don't seem to be Sony biased and aren't buying into Sony's claim that their smaller GPU with higher clocks approach is better than Microsoft's larger GPU with slower clocks approach. Here is an article where Notebook Check shuts down those claims, noting that an 18% overclock on a Navi 1 GPU only offer 5-7% better framerate:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/No-the-PS5-won-t-offer-anywhere-near-the-graphics-performance-of-Xbox-Series-X-Navi-benchmarks-prove-it.458625.0.html

Digital Foundry has also been shutting down these PS5 secret sauce people:

It’ll show in the multiplats. Resolution/FPS....it will be nice to be on the winning side of comparisons for a change lol

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

With the difference in power so small, I don't expect there to be a noticeable difference between multiplats.

It'll probably be about the same as what we see now between the One X and the PS4 Pro. The tech heads will notice the difference, and nitpick all the little details, but for the average consumer it won't really mean much.

Yeah, 1st/2nd party games will be the deciding factor for many people in the end. Those who care more about playing the best version of the big 3rd party games (casuals) or who care about BC will be won over by the advantages that MS has in those areas thanks to their hardware design and progress made last gen on BC. But MS is going to need to prove that their 1st party has improved considerably if they want to win over the more hardcore Sony fans who want to see MS outputting AAA story driven games that review above 90 on meta. MS still has alot of work to do on their 1st party if they want to win over those people. MS needs to acquire a few more studios than they have now, especially AAA studios and Asian studios.

Xbox Series X launching with Halo Infinite is a good start, as long as the game can live up to people's expectations. Halo 5 has good multiplayer, but the campaign was a bit lackluster. Microsoft needs to make sure they have a steady stream of new game releases whether they are AAA or AA or smaller.

Well after Wastleand 3 and Psychonauts 2 Inexile/Double fine making Xbox exclusives. Compulsion games is due for a new game reveal. Undead labs should have a new game announced either this year or next. Grounded, Battletoads, Bleeding Edge....Xbox has A-AA covered to pad out the year.

I don’t think Sony has anything that can compete with Halo Infinfite at launch. I think that will be the Breath of the Wild launch title Xbox needs to hit the ground running. Then Obsidian, Ninja Theory, Playground, Turn 10, and The Initiative keep the momentum with their own AAA games

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I don't think Microsoft should go after hardcore Sony fans by developing similar games. I'd hope all this studios come up with more exciting and innovative stuff, both SP and MP games.

I definitely want MS to let their developers keep making lots of different type of games. Sony's games have all started to kind of run together. That's not to slight them or anything...these highly scripted, cinematic third person action games are big sellers, and their audience continues to be hungry for more, so you keep making them. Certainly I'm more than happy to play some of them as well every now and again. By and large though I prefer games with a little bit more gameplay and/or narrative freedom.

Well, the Play Station Five specs are not out there? I do not think anyone can argue with that :)

Looks like the 9TF was indeed real. They now came up with a max speed boost to get it to 10.2TF but the in no way the Play Station Five is going to run games at this speed all the time. I do not think anyone is arguing with that or trying to prove the contrary... those are real numbers.

Console will still be good but at this point, it is 100% clear that the Xbox Series is quite better :)

Well the demand is there for PS gamers. While they are different games they tend to follow a general formula:

”third person single player story driven action adventure”

We have Gears, Hellblade 2, and whatever the Initiative is cooking up to compete with that. But otherwise we have much more genre diversity. Sim racing, arcade racing, FPS, and WRPG (obsidian and Playground 2nd studio) have a distinct advantage on Xbox.

Then there’s the others. Project Mara (horror), Ori (metroidvania), Bleeding edge (third person brawler), flight simulator (whatever genre that is), battletoads (best em up), Tell me Why (story based narrative). Gears Tactics (turn based strategy), and Grounded (survival story based).

Xbox has more genre diversity then Sony but the problem is lack of exposure. Majority of gamers still think Xbox only has Halo Gears Forza.

I'm pretty keen on the variety next generation as well. I am going to jump back into the racing sim scene with Forza 8 too. Last one I played was 5 at the launch of the Xbox One. I was spoilt by the Horizon series this generation and overlooked the motorsport. The games were fantastic and F5 was rather rushed and empty by comparison which seemed to turn me off it for a good while.

Where the hell is my Outer Worlds DLC Obsidian? I've barely touched any game since beating it twice last year and getting all the achievements...

I am really interested in what they do next. Pretty ken on Hell-Blade 2 though that doesn't look like it won't be ready until at least holiday 2021.

I mean I thought of “simulator” but that would mean putting it in the same genre as Goat simulator lol.
