Well, we can cross another possible Japan acquisition off the list. NetEase just made a big investment in Grounding Inc., who developed Xbox One exclusive Crimson Dragon and is currently co-developing the day one Gamepass The Good Life with Swery's White Owls. If MS doesn't hurry and make some independent JP acquisitions soon, there won't be any left I fear, leaving Microsoft's only possibility of building up a 1st party in Japan to be the acquisition of a JP publisher like Sega. Both Phil and the head of Xbox Asia have said they want to acquire JP studios, but so far the only one is Tango, a studio whose games are far more popular in the west than in Japan. They definitely need more than just Tango if they want to make any real impact in Japan this gen or in future gens.

On a side note, I loved the heck out of Crimson Dragon, one of my favorite single A tier games during the 8th generation, also one of my top 10 game soundtracks of the 8th gen. One of Phil's greatest failings in my eyes is not greenlighting the JRPG sequel to Crimson Dragon that Futatsugi wanted to make, or even a cheaper rail shooter sequel. Such an underrated gem.

Tencent is on the brink of acquiring a Japanese studio according to reports.

Level 5, JP Games and Cyberconnect2 are likely targets to be bought soon imo, I wish that MS would try to get some of them but as you said if they keep waiting then their only move left would be to acquire a publisher. SEGA and Koei-Tecmo are only realistic options imo.

I got into the Halo Beta. Pretty sure I only signed up for Xbox Series S but maybe I did PC too.... they haven't said which system I'm in for yet.

Hopefully they actually let us leave feedback on this flight. I was expecting an email to share my thoughts after the first one but none arrived.

I really hope that all the spartan chatter ("over yonder") and all the other non-announcer voices are really toned down, especially the laughably tacky comments some rando makes whenever you pick up a power weapon. It just feels like they're trying to copy Warzone and are mistakenly believing that these really hollow voices make you feel more immersed rather than just infantilised.

Please don't buy Level-5, Lol.

Microsoft's whole thing has been acquiring studios and not interfering with their current management, Level-5 to me seems mismanaged, Microsoft will have to go in and sort it out, I don't think they're worth the headache.

Regarding Tencent, I would say they'd be even more eager to expand outside of China thanks to CCP's nonsense but CCP's nonsense is hurting Tencent financially so that could be a road bump to their plans, or not, Tencent is rich AF.

Yeah Level 5 has bad management but they are AAA capable and there are not many studios in Japan who are, also most important is that they make games that do appeal to the Japanese audience. It’s better than getting nothing at all imo although I would rather prefer CyberConnect2 myself.

Also I agree that the CCP’s gaming policy will motivate Tencent to further expand their business outside of China.

Chinese investment into JPN gaming studios is pretty crazy. I'm not sure if the new Chinese laws accelerates or deaccelerates this though. Probably the former to get more coverage outside of China.

Honestly it isn't,  ODA from China to Japan is very common and in 2005 while most expected fierce competition it in fact has became more and more collaborations between the nations. From high technology, to entertainment it isn't rare, especially the big the three CKJ are working close together.  It is normal and not alone in asia that countries don't want to work with the White toxic males countries anymore and if you are only a member of Western English forums you probably don't notice it.  Hate against Tencent is = Hate against China = and in plenty of worlds hate against asians. History repeats itself it was the same thing in the 80's and 90's against Japan. Don't buy Jap bikes. Game systems like Nintendo influence our children to hate USA. (Chinpokemon from South Park is an good parody)

It is the same with the CCP game regulations thing. A lot of asian countries are were thinking about including something similar (Korea, Japan etc) but if you read it from a Western made propaganda article it doesnt make sense. But if you go deeper into it and you read that children can only play games for 3 hours that are online especially the ones with a lootbox/mtx component but can play SP games so long they want it isn't that bad.  In Belgium we banned lootboxes so I can see a point in it but I don't think much will change in the USA and the hate will continues because companies like Activivision with COD WZ, EA with Fifa, etc/Epic with Fortnite, MS with Minecraft and so one are all American companies making a ton money of guillible children who also in some cases to pay influencers to promote and protect their products even Angry Joe got attacked over and over again because he criticizes EA a ton.   It would be Front page news if Tencent did with its influencers like EA is doing.

Havent used my Xbox One in a while. Trying to play Zombie Army Trilogy. Put in the disc, installed it and updated it. Doesnt work. Uninstalled it and installed it again. Nothing. Nothing happens when I press on the picture of the game. Not even a message that it doesnt read it or whatever. Anyone have any idea whats wrong with this shit?

Well it would be good to know if any other game works. (Can be a small download only indie game, doesn't matter).

You could try a hard reset (pressing the power button on the console for like 10 seconds).

If that doesn't work there might be a problem with Xbox Live. Go to the settings menu and find the option "go offline" and try again. If it works, it's pretty much guaranteed to be an online issue that can take a few hours to be fixed.

On the assumption that other games are working, here's what you've got to do. This might sound silly but if you know all your account details...

1) Change DNS manually to 8.8.8.8, and 8.8.4.4. Clear alternate MAC address and restart console when prompted.

 2) Navigate to settings > system > console info and select the option to reset your console while keeping your games and apps.

Nothing of substance will be deleted so long as you play connected to the internet. Redownload your account and then bam, should work fine. I had issues with games not loading or DLC not being available despite being downloaded. I think there's some kind of handshake for each game update with the xbox servers which certain DNS settings stop from happening properly, and you can prompt it to try again by resetting your console.

This is such an improvement over Xbox One's retail presence in Japan. We have a Yodabashi in Japan running a huge Xbox Gamepass advertisement beside the escalator in their store.

The main issue for Xbox retail presence in Japan still has a long way to go to see an improvement. It's the fact that retail market is dead there. All publishers gave up on releasing retail Xbox games due to how "popular" Xbox One was. You can see Flight Sim being sold there on these photos, but it looks like Microsoft is the only publisher that still releases some of their games physically in Japan. Third parties gave up long time ago. Series X|S has a good sales trend which might make them reconsider the decision not to release games physically, but I think that it's still gonna be an uphill battle especially considering that Japanese xbots got used to "digital" during all these years with no choice.
