I just hope the next Bioshock game is Bioshock 3 rather than Bioshock Infinite 2.

Some Guy on Reddit just leaked images from Redfall and is describing how the game plays feels. https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/plxgin/redfall_playtest_images/

I guess ill censor this if some people don't want to be spoiled but it contains no story spoilers just game mechanics/feel.

Spoiler!

The guy describes the gameplay as a Borderlands Looter Shooter there are 6 characters in the current build with more to possibly come, 4 of 6 characters are the same ones that appeared in the reveal trailer, possible in game monitization.

Honestly this is just sounding like Wolfenstein: Youngblood all over again and a possible left over of Bethesda's strategy of monitizing their games before MS bought them, i feel like critics will pan this game if it doesn't turn out to be amazing.

Spoiler!

Yeah, that's a good point you make there. I forgot that this game entered development at a time when Bethesda was pushing hard into multiplayer games they could monetize after they had some singleplayer games that underperformed in sales (including Arkane's own Dishonored 2, Dishonored Death of the Outside, and Prey, as well as Evil Within 2). They multiplayerfied Wolfenstein with Youngblood and Fallout with 76, and it seems like Arkane got pushed to do the same thing here with Redfall. It's a real shame, when this game first leaked early this year I was expecting an Arkane style immersive sim with playable vampires, basically Dishonored + Vampyr, but instead we get a co-op looter shooter that this leaker says bears little resemblance to Arkane's past work aside from the hero abilities feeling like certain Dishonored abilities. Thankfully I like looter shooters, but it's still disappointing to get a looter shooter from a studio known for their immersive sims.

I just hope that Bethesda learned some hard lessons from both Fallout 76 and Wolfenstein Youngblood, and makes an actual good multiplayer game from day one here with Redfall. Remove anything that feels pay to win like Wolfenstein Youngblood had, focus any microtransactions on cosmetics, new outfits for the playable characters and such (preferably . Make sure it has a good storyline, and tone down that cringey gen z dialogue we got in the reveal trailer. Fix these many years outdated graphics in the leaked screens before you show gameplay to the public at The Game Awards 2021 or wherever, we don't need another Halo Infinite situation. And if at all possible give solo players AI companions so that you don't feel forced to play co-op.

Spoiler!

Honestly a open world Borderlands-like Looter Shooter sounds better to me than it being just another L4D Clone that the initial trailer seemed to imply, The Storyline needs to be top notch and the content needs to be plentiful and satisfying. There are just so many things that could potentially go wrong in a game like this and I just hope things go smoothly for Arkane considering they have no past experience in this type of game outside of assisting with Youngblood and we all know how that turned out. I wouldn't worry about the graphics right now and would expect something on the level of DeathLoop so not exactly a showcase for next gen.

I would have rather had a Open World game where you kill Vampires in a similar style like Dying Light though.

Anyone play the Artful Escape yet? Highly recommend checking out.

I'm loving it so far, one of the best games this gen so far.

When are people gonna learn that Arkane don't make bad games?

Short 56 seconds showing Redfall's leaked images.  I had clicked on Shika's, but images have been removed.

Didn't people say the same thing about CD Project Red?

Re: Graphics - There is zero reason to read into the graphics of a pre-Alpha playtest which was only intended to test the gameplay systems, which was never meant for public release, of a game around a year from release, graphics are one of the very last things that are touched up in development and typically happen around the very final stages of development.

However, from the descriptions of the game in the top post of that Reddit thread, I am actually a lot more excited for the game now, Lol. Microsoft needs to do something about these damn leakers, nobody is scared to leak Microsoft stuff.

Same here, when I first saw it 2 months ago I didn't really know what kind of game it was going to be.  I'm more hyped up now.

So am I right in saying from the images there it's going to be some sort of looter shooter like Borderlands? Open World also it looks like.

And they still haven't. Cyberpunk certainly wasn't an all time great, like everyone expected, and it was severely underbaked, particularly on last gen consoles, but if you played the game on hardware where the game actually worked, it was FAR from a bad game. That's not to say it was acceptable, what they did. Shipping a game that pretty much was unplayable on like half the platforms they launched on. That's deserving of all the flack they got. And even on the platforms where the game works, there are elements that clearly still needed work. But the core issue of Cyberpunk, and why it will go down as a cautionary tale more than anything, isn't that CDPR made a bad game. If they'd only released this game on PC and next gen consoles, there would be very little controversy around this title. The problem is they promised their game could be all that on Xbox One, and PS4 as well. Something they not only failed spectacularly at, but also, instead of being open about it - maybe cancelling, or at the very least delaying that version of the game further - they opted for the "it's easier to ask forgiveness later" approach, because they really wanted everyone's money.

TERRIBLE failure on many levels.

Not a bad game.

From what I gather, it's going to be very similar to Borderlands.
