Well at the end of the day this is what Microsoft has done. There is not a single person that loves GTA that can reasonably say they'd prefer to play the PS3 version. There are hardcore GTA lovers that have already committed to the PS3 and cannot afford a 360 as well. There are mediocre fans that will get the PS3 because they like other games.

But at the end of the day, the only way to complete the GTAIV experience is to own the Xbox 360 version. Period.


To think ... Billy Gates would just let $50M pay for extra guns ... ROTFLMBO. It was for an experience that you can't find on any other console. And seeming Billy and M$ paid $50M, why should R*, out of the graciousness of their heart, create episodes for the PS3? Man, the Sony fanz won't quit.

Folks can get mad all they want to, they can craft fairy tales, but the only folks who will play episodic content on their PS3 are either sitting in a room in a mental hospital, poppin' meds and wearing a football helmet ... or heading that way.


 The only problem I have with that statement from Rockstar is that it is so unsure. It is like he was forced to say it, but wasn't agreeing with it.

Great thread. I can't believe I read every one of the posts here.
I was not planning to purchase this game, but i think I will now. Never played the other ones but the heated conversation on this thread makes me feel like I'm missing something.

Good for Microsoft btw.

Thats complete crap.  He said it, he clearly meant it.  The only hesitation he would have had is worry that he would stop people buying the PS3 version.

If this is true, it'd be worth MS's $50million, but only if they get the word out NOW and LOUD as I can see up to half of GTA4's sales happening in the first month.

i read all the posts to jajajajaja. I know that many people have said this, but, for 50 million i really doubt than the dlc will be some missions or a little town. I dont know but, what was the development cost of gta 4?? 15 or 20 millions? with that, microsoft paid complete development of 2 GTA 4, take two won money and will win even more with the gta4 sales. They can easy spend 4 or 5 millions on a city (or part of liberty city) then can be like 25 or 30% of the gta4 size, and whats the 30% of 9 gigas... 3, that without what all the people before say of using the same models or something like that from the gta4 game disc. I think than 1 year will be enough for do that. Plus, the ps3 vension than can sell  3 - 4 millions.

I still hear people calling this $50 million dollars a full payment when in all actuality its an advance meaning take 2 is paying back every penny. Why would they give MS full exclusivity for free???

PS: if some of you had read every post in the thread like you claim you would already know this. So I'll re-post the link so it's easier to find.

@ Shura - rolling on the floor laughing my butt off.

@ rasone - actually, R* offered GTA series exclusivity to MS for free back in the day - and they shunned it. R* took the free exclusivity to Sony and created a riot. MS couldn't lock down complete or even timed exclusivity, so they went to ... you guessed it - digital download. And they paid T2 for it - granted the episode makes over $50M. They just have to sell 1.25M copies of the DLC to make money. Maybe there is an escape clause that will put it on the PS3 - maybe not. But I can tell you, based on attach rates, R* will make that money and then some. Just watch and see.
