Good points to know. But wouldn't you say that Sony's PS3's late gen push recovered a lot of gamers with exclusives and thus outsold the 360 paving the way for the PS4s crushing success. Sony was the favorite this gen they had built the momentum, no one imploded.

It could be many things, Xbox did take there foot off the pedal on the last couple of years of the 360 which allowed PS3 to catch up. A good example here would be Sony bringing GT6 to finish off the PS3 while MS moved FM5 to the XB1 instead of the 360.

The total sales result was really scored in junk time in the generation if we put it in sports thermology.

Foot off the pedal? They never had it on the pedal. The initial success 360 enjoyed was all thanks to PS3 releasing a year late at a ridiculous price. If not for that 360 would've done just as badly as everything else MS has released in the consumer market.

It's sure it's bad and than he mentioned "who need Scarlet ???". Scarlet is officially doomed before it's even born LOL.

A bit of a stretch to assert something as definitive before it's even started.

It will all come down to the games in the end, especially if Microsoft is able to pump out more quality titles like Gears 5 that showcases the Ray Tracing potential of the console.

Well of course that's what he said, in my opinion it can change Scarlet can be great "if " Microsoft " can do more than just "ray tracing" .

Because we know Gears 5 already did that.

interesting video! i have two friends who bought a PS4 for the first time (they only had xbox-consoles in the past) and sold their xboxone's. the reasons? 1. Sony invests much more money in their games than microsoft(in the last 7 years), that's why. and 2. the exclusives list is much bigger on ps4. I see no game ala "horizon zero dawn, uncharted 4, persona 5, spiderman, detroit become human, many big jrpgs ala dragon quest 11, ni no kuni or god of war" on xbox. A friend said last year: Other developers want love to detail, Microsoft wants "good statistics".

And what will appear in the next weeks / months? on Ps4: "Congrete Genie, MediEvil Remake, Death Stranding, Shenmue 3, Last of Us 2, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Ni-Oh 2, Yakuza Collection, Persona 5 Royal, maybe Ghost of Tsushima" ect. What on Xbox? big games or exclusives in the next months? Not much. Who wants to play Xbox Games, it can also be on pc. The Xbox360 was good, the xboxone is really boring in my opinion.

this screen is from youtube xD hard words, but true.

Xbox as an entire devision last gen was performing better than Playstation across the board.

Yes even on the 1st party games front Xbox was doing better. The 360 earnt its strips and it definitely didnt help that the PS3 fell over at launch. Similar to this gen with PS4 feeding off XB1 and WiiU's underperforming launches.

I stopped watching Dunkey, the moment he mocked criticism towards his videos and lack of in-depth talks. All he does now is toss in a few memes and think's he's funny shit 99% of the time,.

I don't know when he was supposed to be good, but about a year ago, I watched some of his vids. Found 2 of them kinda funny, with some good game footage, but grew tired of him quickly. His popularity confounds me.

A good amount of people actually use bots to boost their view counts on Youtube I'm guessing he is one of them.

How so? Since PS3's launch it outsold 360 every year worldwide except in 2008. Their total software sales were pretty similar with a slight edge to 360 thanks to it being on the market for an extra year.

As far as game output goes there's no comparison between the two. Sony completely dominated last generation.

An over 2:1 ratio, of course things are the worst they've ever been for MS this gen, but they were never particularly good.

Why did you turn this into a list war? When i said Xbox's 1st party line up were out preformer Playstations that doesnt mean its about the qauntity output of games..

The major hitting 1st party Xbox games were outselling the big hitting PS3 games. Halo 3 alone outsold 3 of Sonys big hitters at launch. Even Sony came out and admitted 4 out of 10 1st party PS games made profit while the rest didnt.

The fact is the 360 made more money than the PS3 regardless how many PS3's were sold world wide. Money determines how successful something is, not just sales. In this case the PS3 lost nearly twice as much as the 360 while also selling less software overall but scrapped past the 360 hardware sales by 2m which is nothing in this industry.

Also is this an alt account? Never seen you before.

Idk or care how much profits a company makes, I care about the games they make. Losing money to solidify your position is also a strategic decision.

MS is doing it now with Gamepass, they're losing a ton of money on it in hopes that it will make a return in the future.

Similarly Sony was losing money last gen funding a ton of games letting their studios experiment and grow and it's paying off now. This gen they have half a dozen 10+ million selling IPs and more to come, with most of them looking to hit 15+ million, and Spiderman & TLOU2 will likely be 20+ million sellers. For comparison MS has ever had 1 game break 10 million.

The fact that the only time MS was remotely competitive with Sony was when Sony had their absolute lowest moment in playstation history says it all.

A console brand that went from selling like 25 million units worldwide was able to more than triple its sales vs a company that followed up the best selling console ever. That doesn't happen by accident. The Xbox 360 did a lot of things right and it reflected in sales. Let's give credit where credit is due.
