Forums - Microsoft - does anyone still think that the 360 can win this console war?

this console war will never be over... only in the minds of fanboys

Around the Network

Hell no. I think its more reasonable to ask whether it can win the HD console war. I'll never catch the Wii.

Ironic thing is that Haze Killzone and Resistance 2 are also the exact SAME type of shooter. They are all SCI FI a further sub category. They then have to go up against and be compared to CODIV if they want any hope of success.

Xbox side - Bioshock - Halo - Gears are in completely differenct categories. One isn't even an FPS, its a TPS.

Tease.

@legend endimion, and the mann,

you xbots need to read what i said nowhere in my post did i say anything positive about the ps3, i think the ps3 is worse than the 360 and yet it is outselling it which makes the 360 look even worse. but tell yourself what you want to justify buying your failed rrod machine.

hahahaha just wait till starcraft gets here and you will find the perhaps last person who actually thinks that. I do not think 360 even has a chance at 2nd place.

I have never once said the 360 will beat the Wii.  Period.

Here is what will happen this generation:

Wii= Win

360/PS3= About equal down here.  If either beats the other, it won't be by enough to sway ANY exclusives they wouldn't already have received.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I'm going to get allot of slack for this, but his my honest prediction on how things will end this generation:-
1.PS3
2.wii
3.xbox360

note: I also predict that they will all be very close to each other in terms of install base once the generation ends.

I know a girl who coaches the debate team at a high school. Two big things she teaches them are that if you call your opponent a name or say the word "technically", you have already lost the debate. I kind of think that's the case sometimes with the 360 and people constantly bringing up the RRoD. We all know that the RRoD has been a problem. Falcon models seem to have greatly reduced its frequency, and further revisions surely will. It seems that when PS3 fanboys feel backed into a corner or get all butthurt about something, they bring up the RRoD, which didn't really seem to hurt the 360's sales. Love MS or hate them, there's one thing they've been right about all along: Software sells systems. If you don't have the software, your system won't sell. PS3 hasn't had the software. 360 has. The numbers reflect that. The impact of BluRay has been WAY overestimated by some because all media (movies, music, TV, etc.) is making a big shift toward digital distribution. We are not far from a world free of physical media to hold our data, and when movies finally catch up, it won't matter what kind of player you have. I think people already realize that. For example, I can get my HD movies from my OnDemand service. I haven't rented a movie from Blockbuster in literally years, and I'm not big on obtaining a huge movie collection, so what do I care about having a disc? As long as the movie is in HD and I can view it without having to go into the store or send for it through Netflix, I will watch it. It seems that many share my point of view, which is why BluRay isn't the smash hit it was thought to be. The HD format wars were very overhyped.

EDIT:  Sorry, I quoted the wrong post.  But you know what I meant.

i think bluray is enough to make it win. sony has HUGE plans for what bluray is going to turn into now that toshiba threw in the towel. of course it has alot of catchin up to do but its not like bluray is going to get any smaller over the next year or more! again, the game line this year is going to move a ton of consoles, and it seems like more and more developers are starting to develop on ps3 even as lead platform which shows alot of progress. not saying its over for the 360 but im saying they will be lucky if they do come out ahead. just like they were lucky the ps3 wasnt ready first. just think if the ps3 had come out the same time as 360. that would ahve been a funny show.

technically i think you look funny. ;)

also, movies and tv shows aren't making a huge leap into digital wholly for a long time to come.  not everyone lives in a big city, not even close.  so the speeds to download movies and tv shows will not reach the vast majority of the population for a long time.  and just because you are not a movie buff doesn't mean there aren't plenty of people out there who are.  I am one of them, I am just unfortuately poor right now so I don't have a blu ray player and blu ray movies, but I still have a boat load of normal movies as do other people.  the reason blu ray "isn't a smash hit" isn't because the hd format wars were over hyped, it was because there were two rival formats and people didn't want to buy a player for a couple hundred dollars and lots of movies and risc getting burned if they chose the wrong side. the price of hdtv's are coming down, the price of hd players are coming down, so more and more will sell.

as for 360 having more software, it was out a year longer, of course it will have more software, and the fact that the ps3 has been outselling it, by any amount, with a higher price tag and fighting the image of "no software" should make microsoft think real hard about what the hell is going on.

I guess I had better add this to keep the fanboy flames off of me a little bit, check my games list, I do not own a 360 or a ps3, I own a wii.

I think the 360 has already proven itself to be a great console with a lot of fantastic games which should be the measure of a console's success in my opinion.  I mean the game library has come a long way since the Xbox 1 days.  Who could have imagined it would have so many JRPGs?  Did the original Xbox have even one?

As for future games I don't understand why people are putting down the 360's lineup, especially since it has a great list of upcoming games.

Here are just some of the games coming to the console:

Tales of Vesperia
Fable 2
Gears of War 2
Too Human
Banjo Kazooie 3
GTA IV
GTA IV: Episodes 1 and 2
Halo Wars
Halo Chronicles
Resident Evil 5
Ninja Gaiden 2
Soulcalibur IV
Left 4 Dead
Bioshock 2
Mass Effect 2
Saboteur
Silent Hill 5
Brutal Legend
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Fallout 3
Prototype
Mercenaries 2
Alpha Protocol
Cry On
Infinite Undiscovery
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Alan Wake
Saints Row 2
Dark Void
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
APB
Borderlands
Edge of Twilight
Tom Clancy's Endwar
Ghostbusters: The Video Game
The Last Remnant
...
And many many other third party games and unannounced exclusives.  Anyways I'm sure anyone who actually buys the system will end up being very happy with their purchase in the long run.

i was talking about console sellers not any random game you can find on the internet. the only game there that is remotely going to MAYBE be a console seller is gears of war 2 but the only people who would buy that are people that enjoyed the first. if anyone bought the console for 1 game it was the first gears of war. as for your list of games, do you honestly think that all of those games are going to be system sellers, HONESTLY? some of those games i have never even heard of. APB, borderlands the last remnant, etc. and some of them come out for all 3 consoles so that shouldnt count either. next time you come out with another list of the 360's "greatest hits" try and be a little more accurate.
