Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Breath of the Wild 2 will take place in the same Hyrule.

I love this. I loved the world of Breath of the Wild but it was not without flaws. Being in the same world means that they can just keep adding more great content to an already amazing game world. People complained that there weren't enough enemy types, now they can fix that. There were relatively few sidequests, and now they can make more. Most of the story took place in flashback sequences, and now they have a chance to craft a whole new story that your can interact with yourself.

So, Nintendo is doomed, again?

It was announced as a direct sequence to Breath of the Wild. Why wouldn't it be the same Hyrule?

Majora's Mask was a direct sequel to Ocarina of time and it was not the same world.  Wind Waker was a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time as well that took place in the adult timine, and it took place on the great sea.  Spirit Tracks was a direct sequel to Phantom Hourglass, which was a direct sequel to Wind Waker, and those all took place in different areas as well.

This would actually be the second direct sequel in Legend of Zelda history (a link between worlds being the first) to do this, so that is a pretty clear indication as to why people would wonder if it would take place in Hyrule or a neighboring region/reality.

Wouldn't it be the third, actually? I mean, the Link in The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link are one and the same, after all. It's also the same world, just on a much larger map (You can find the area of the first game south of death mountain).

You see Hyrule Castle in the trailer it was a given its the same Hyrule the will likely be changes made anyway.

Here is something to consider.

I feel that Link will lose his sheikah slate, and all those abilities.

Imagine the exact same Breath of the Wild world, no changes, except without those abilities. Replace them with things like the hookshot and others. Just that alone will make the world feel different.

Now I'm not saying that is all they will do, but removing the slate abilities would change the game drastically.

Pretty much. I'm not just fine with this, I'm all for it. There was so much untapped potential in that Hyrule - there were two whole areas in Hebra and Faron that went by with mostly no meaningful content besides Shrines and Koroks -, that alone is worth a second trip.

But I think there's definitely gonna be loads of new content. It's the same place, but obviously we're going deeper in this time. And there are surely going to be new areas, too. Personally I'm not sure I'd be down for another open world in Zelda this soon, but there was a lot more to come from this Hyrule so this was the right choice in my opinion.

Might not be everyone's cuppa tea, but this is exactly what I want out of Breath of the Wild: more.

And when it is your fav game of all time, you'd sure want a LOT MORE :D

If it is indeed the same map that'd be a colossal disappointment and I might not even buy it.

Might as well have just been DLC if it's not even going to give us a new map to explore. Going from the sublime sense of constant discovery is BOTW to just retreating the same world I've already covered every inch of would be one of the biggest steps down in quality in gaming history.
