Our Civilisation doomed? What?

There are many possibilties how doom will come to our civilisation. I dont really want be tied down to a single scenario... how, why and when. Ill just wait and let it flush over me, acting all surprised and unprepaired when it finally happens.

Mainly to try and sell you pointless shit.  Is that progress?  Thank the heavens for ad block.  I don't know how the average user surfs the web without one.

It is ? The world is better off than before since it values data when it can enhance the way we do science and engineering ...

We've always valued data hence why libraries have been around since ancient times.  We just have access to it more now with the internet.  Yet most traffic on internet is for porn.  Seems like researcher these days are using AI and algorithms to help compile our data.  I can only imagine a Terminator scenario for us in future.  Either that or the movie Idiocracy.

Computer technology has improved expodentially, but everything else is taking baby steps. I agree

Not nearly as much as we do now. As civilizations came to an end so did their libraries and other archives of knowledge were destroyed in the process as well ...

With digital technology, we are more entrenched than ever in the brave new world of information and it makes for a far more sustainable future ...

As long as humanity continues to see value in data, we are never going back to the dark ages because there's tons of humans out there who know too much about the world operates. Now, I'm not arguing we'll never see a period of stagnation in some fields such as digital technology but as long as humanity retains current knowledge in the future then they'll always have the possibility of keeping hope or making progress ...

Yea that was a main problem with libraries back in the day.  Most of the time to conquering civilization would burn them down which doesn't make sense to me but perhaps they used ideology or religious difference as an excuse.

I agree with you that we will probably never go back to the dark ages again but things might start to stagnate till a genius or national will makes the next breakthrough.  Only way I see us going back to the dark ages would be if we nuked ourselves to death.  Life and earth would go on without us and maybe in another billion years higher levels of life can start evolving.  I forgot how much longer the sun has left.  Think it still has 4 or 5 billion years left.

It's okay to stagnate because there'll come a time when we reach physical limits where we won't see technical improvements anymore. As long the world in the future remains productive as it does in our world today then civilization won't cease to exist but it just won't see an improvement ...
