If you mean in 2021, the first episode will come out then sure, if you mean ep 1 + ep 2 + ep 3 will come out in 2021 the nope. All parts of FFVIIR contain: Before Crisis, Crisis Core, the main game, Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children. No way the full game can come out in 2021, ep 1 at best.

Source for FF VIIR including Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, and Advent Children ? Because I certainly haven't heard of the remake including any of these titles within the chronology ...

If FFVIIR have only FFVII story, they don't need multi release

"Mochizuki also noted the game will feature new scene additions, but that the basic story scenario will stay the same as the 1997 classic."

I assume you know what this means, right ?

Doesn't change that it will be released in multiple parts :)). Unless you think, Square will release all parts in 2021 or something :))

You're getting defensive over the fact that you're wrong about the composition of the remake, haha ...

No reason to believe Square won't change their plans and release the whole damn game by 2021 since it's just a remake with a FF XV combat system ...

Let's get back to the original topic at hand. This isn't about FF VIIR releasing by 2021, it's about whether FF VIIR or MP4 will release first so since the latter has yet shown any gameplay/restarted development there's no good reason to entertain that MP4 will come out before FF VIIR does ...

FF VIIR will probably come out first since there's actual gameplay footage and restarting development with MP4 is a massive setback ...

What you saw has long been scrapped SE started over when they fell out with CC who were developing the game at the time apparently what was show wasn't even able to be reused.

Not really, "the basic story scenario", "the basic", the other four are side stories anyway, not basic :))

Hahaha, and no reason to believe they won't combine all stories of all 5 parts or give up the multi-release either :))

Actually, there is, FFVIIR was made by Square and MP4 was made by Retro Studios :))

"According to Dan Tsukasa, a game designer and Final Fantasy 7’s art director

Pretty sure that's made up by the author of article since it's Shintaro Takai who's the art director and an attempt to cross reference the source's credentials failed ... (no other articles mention that the source was the art director for remake)

But what's more ...

"Of course, it may be a good idea to take this with a grain of salt, as Square hasn’t officially commented on the situation yet. It’s also noteworthy that Tsukasa has seemingly deleted his social media accounts and his ArtStation profile since going off on Reddit.

Even the author is skeptical of the validity of the source so until a verifiable source of information has been released, all claims or rumors of CC2's work being scrapped are unsubstantiated ...

LOL, they NEVER confirmed that they were going to remake the entire chronology ...

Combine the whole chronology ? Not going to happening with official information and footage given so far. Give up multi-part release ? The most likely thing to be dropped, at least more so than CC2's ... (plenty of time for Square to show more when we haven't seen anything in over 2 years yet)

As for your last statement, don't count it since Retro hasn't made a new game in nearly 5 years ...

Easy; Metroid is being developed/overseen by Nintendo. They'll make sure to have the game out even if its on the Switch's last month in the market. Square on the other hand, they operate in suspicious ways and will probably release the first episode by 2021 lol. And I love Square, but dang are they annoying with the AAA Final Fantasy releases.
